Town to conduct sewer smoke test

The Town of Many will be conducting a leak test in the sanitary sewer systems by blowing smoke into these pipes during the coming week, beginning Monday, Feb. 24, and running through Thursday, Feb. 27 This smoke test will reveal sources
of sewer odors in neighborhoods, as well as places where some and other surface waters are entering the sanitary 
system

CEO Jay Quebedeaux looks to future of Sabine Medical Center

Jay Quebedeaux has only been Chief Executive Officer of Sabine Medical Center since Sept. 2013, but he’s already making
a big impression on the community. Quebedeaux first came to Many as Chief Operating Officer in June, 2012 from North Metro Medical Center in Little Rock. He was promoted to CEO of the local facility and since then has made great efforts to settle in the community and become known.

Retired Judge John S. Pickett Jr. dies at home following lengthy illness

Retired Eleventh Judicial District Judge John Samuel Pickett Jr. died at his home surrounded by family on Wednesday night, Feb. 5, 2014. He was 93-years-old and had been in poor health for several years. With his death, Sabine Parish
lost a World War II veteran, a retired 11th Judicial District Judge who sat on the bench for 18 years; a private attorney who practiced until his 90th birthday; a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, cousin and family man who raised his family in the Christian belief and a well respected man in the community

Winter Storm Watch: Cold, rain, sleet coming

A hazardous weather outlook has been posted for Sabine Parish. The winter storm warning began with light rain after midnight on Monday, Feb. 10. Lows for Monday were predicted to be in the low 40s with east winds at 10 mph. “Again?” “You’re kidding” and “I can’t believe this!” were just some of the comments about the bad weather that is headed toward Many and surrounding areas.

Many trio honored by LFCA

Back in December, the Many High School trio of Xavier Dias, Pepi Kennedy and Garrett Thomas were selected as members of the Class 2A all-state football team as chosen by a panel of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association. Now, the three juniors have been honored with all-state accolades once again, but this time by the Louisiana Football Coaches Association.

Converse teen killed in fiery crash

A 19-year-old Converse man died in a single-vehicle crash on La. Hwy. 174 west of Converse around 9:15 p.m. Saturday night, Feb. 1, according to the La. State Police, Troop E. Dead at the scene was Cody James Meaux of Converse. The teen, who was reportedly going to a church youth group meeting in Converse, has just left a local residence when the accident occurred
