Rivers-Williams graduates from Louisiana Tourism Leadership Academy

The Louisiana Travel Promotion Association (LTPA) and Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser celebrated the graduation of Wanda “Rainy” Rivers Williams, Administrative Media Manager and Bookkeeper of the Sabine Parish Tourist & Recreation Commission from the Louisiana Tourism Leadership Academy (LTLA) at the association’s 2016 Annual Membership Meeting in Lake Charles.

Ribbon cutting held for A&A Pest Solutions

Rodney Abington, center, family friends and members of the Sabine Parish Chamber of Commerce gathered for the ribbon-cutting of his business, A & A Pest Solutions on Friday, February 12 at noon. Abington, who opened his business two years ago, is the only pest control service in Sabine Parish.

Town of Many donates to Many High Football

In May, the movies in Many premiered the championship winning game of Many High School football of 2014. All the proceeds of the concessions for that night were donated to the football team. Mayor Ken Freeman hands a check to Head Coach Jess Curtis. Also present were players Braxton Miller, Darion Miller, Pquawn Williams, and B.J. Joseph.

Brookshire Bros. to remain open

Following the loss of the Walmart Neighborhood Market in Zwolle at the end of January, announcements and rumors regarding the closure of Brookshire Bros. of Many, which has served the community for decades. Indeed, Brookshire Bros. at one point did announce the closure of the grocery store, but through negotiations with the property owner, an agreement has been reached leaving the business intact.

Energy bill scams making comeback

Scammers never stop, no matter what time of year it is. Entergy Louisiana reminds customers to be wary, as scammers are targeting unsuspecting customers. The scheme typically occurs when the con artist calls and tells the customer their electric bill payment is past due, and that service will be disconnected if payment isn’t made. The scammer then directs the customer to transfer funds electronically, sometimes through “MoneyPak,” “Green Dot” or other third party card or transfer system.

Choctaw-Apache Tribe sets Bass Bash Tournment

The Choctaw-Apache Bass Bash Tournament has been set for Saturday, February 27 at North Toledo Bend State Park out of Zwolle on the number one bass lake in the United States, Toledo Bend. The one-day event is a team tournament with a $50 entry fee. Weigh-in is at 3 p.m. Trailering is allowed.
