Zwolle, Ebarb VFW donates to Shriner’s Hospital

Walter Korb, quartermaster of the Zwolle/Ebarb VFW Post 5187, personally purchased and donated ten large Valentine’s Day bears on behalf of the post to the Shreveport Shriner’s Hospital for children. The post and auxiliary are very proud to contribute to the enjoyment of these children and our community.

Florien’s Bruce Byles named Achievement Award winner

Officer arrested for methamphetamine

Florien Police Officer Jessica R. Reed, 30, of Zwolle, was booked into the Sabine Parish Detention Center on February 22 for possession of Schedule II methamphetamine, possession of a firearm in the presence of CDS, and malfeasance in office.

Cleco sale denied by PSC

On February 24, the Louisiana Public Service Commission decided not to allow the sale of Louisiana utility company Cleco to an investment group. The battle between the commission and utility company had gone on for months with the final vote happening that day.

Easter Seals’ Sabine’s Got Talent Show slated

Dancers and singers will highlight the Sabine’s Got Talent Show on Friday night, March 11 at 6 p.m. in the Many Community Center. The show is being sponsored by the Sabine Parish Easter Seals Committee composed of Jan Varnado, Brandy Mitchell, Frances Hopkins, Tammy Mangum, Nell Britner and Donna Smith Ammons. The committee is working with Bernie Bitting of the Shreveport Office.

We oppose the Cleco / Macquarie sale because we do not believe it is in the best interest of the good people of Louisiana.
