Book Nooks closer to reality

Article Image Alt Text

Book nooks, or little lending libraries, are a big step closer to reality in the Cultural District of Many. Ten businesses and individuals have stepped up to sponsor the book nooks by paying the cost of construction and installation, which is approximately $200 for each book nook. The Many Cultural District Advisory Committee said SARC will build the tiny houses that will contain books for children and adults.

A person may visit the book nook, select a book to read, and then return it to another book nook, or keep the book and replace it with another. Mayor Ken Freeman hopes the book nooks will encourage children to read more and families to read together. He said the book nook project was implemented in Leesville and Vernon Parish and have been a popular program in the community.
