Attorney General Jeff Landry is asking for the public’s help in an ongoing investigation into a Sabine Parish man accused of forcing young girls to produce child pornography.

“It is crucial that people who are exploiting children are found and brought to justice,” said General Landry in a press release. “The victimization of our state’s youth will not be tolerated by my office; and we will continue working with our law enforcement partners to put an end to it.”

The Rev. Wilton Anthony, 83, pastor of Siloam Baptist Church, has been selected as the 2018 inductee into the prestigious Sabine Hall of Fame, according to Pete Abington. The beloved pastor will be inducted at the 21st annual banquet to be hosted on March 27.

A native of Sabine Parish, the Rev. Anthony or Brother Tony as he is called by many, claims to be related to everyone is Sabine Parish. When he first meets someone new, he’ll quickly establish a family or friend connection.

The caring pastor is a likeable fellow, with silver hair and a big smile. His voice is booming and his height makes him stand out in any crowd.

Little Free Lending Libraries are in Many at long last.

The first four book nooks were installed early last week in Many’s Cultural District. The remaining eight will be installed before the end of the week.

The book nooks are loaded with free books for the residents of Many. One shelf contains books for adults, while the lower shelf is stacked with children’s books.

The Sabine Parish Easterseals Committee raised $5,000 for disabled children and adults at the Friday, February 16 Sabine’s Got Talent. The money raised this year will be used for autism, according to Bernie Bitting, Development Director, who was accompanied to the local shown by MacKenzie Morgan, development coordinator.

The local committee, composed of Donna Smith Ammons, Frances Hopkins, Brandy Mitchell, Jana Smith, Jan Varnado and Jamie Vincent have worked hard securing sponsors and getting donations for over two months, in an effort to have an entertaining show. Last year, Easterseals assisted 231 Sabine Parish residents.

The Third Annual Sabine’s Got Talent will debut onstage at the Many Community Center this Friday night, February 16 at 7 p.m., according to the Sabine Parish Easter Seals Committee. Serving on the committee are Donna Smith Ammons, Nell Britner,

Frances Hopkins, Brandy Mitchell, Jana Smith, Jan Varnado and Jamie Vincent. Vocal, dance, instrumentals with individual and group performances will bring local talent to the front and center, as contestants vie for a grand prize of a two-night stay at Wyndham Gardens in Shreveport and dinner.

Happy Hours means different things to different folks. For Many, Sabine Parish, and surrounding area residents, it can mean taking interactive classes at the Many Depot Art Guild for a few hours on Saturday afternoons. Class participants can take photography, painting, arts and crafts, and jewelry design/making classes, which are offered on four Saturday afternoons each month from 1-4 p.m. The Many Cultural District Advisory Committee, Many Mayor Ken Freeman, and the Many

Town Council agreed that folks in the area needed more activities and events so they would not have to travel but could stay at home for special events, musical concerts, free movies, art shows, and now Happy Hours classes.
