Bank of Montgomery holds grand opening

When looking for a location to open its sixth Bank of Montgomery branch, President and CEO Ken Hale didn’t have to look very far to find a community he wanted to serve. “Many is a really great community and we really feel at home here,” Hale said at the grand opening ceremonies last Friday at the Many branch, which is locatedon U.S. 171. “It can sometimes be  hard to break into a small community, but the people here in Many have been so accepting. Martinez inducted into Sabine Hall of Fame

Zwolle Mayor G.J. “Pie” Martinez was officially inducted into the Sabine Hall of Fame Tuesday night, April 1 at the annual banquet, hosted by the committee. He is the 17th inductee to be honored in the parish. Preceding Martinez as members were T.D. Nichols, 1998; Judge John S. Pickett Jr., 1999; Rogers P. Loupe, 2000; Samuel Cross, 2001; W.E. “Boots” Hayes, 2002; Catherine Vines Davis, 2003; James Q. Salter, 2004; Gerald A. Storm creates damage in Sabine

Winds estimated up to 80 m.p.h. and heavy rains combined for a severe storm which swept through Sabine Parish at 8:30
p.m. Friday night, March 28. The ground was already saturated by rains during the week and when the heavy winds hit, many pines just toppled over.

Iberia Clinic issued zoning variance

The Iberia Health Clinic applied for and was issued a zoning variance at 1050 North Robinson in Many at the most recent meeting of the town council. By a vote of 4-1, the special exception zoning variance passed. According to the special 
exception use clause, within an R-1 residential district, a zoning variance may grant an exception to allow for the construction of a hospital or medical facility.

Small named Sabine Hall of Fame Accomplishment Award recipient

Derrick Ryan Small, 18, has been chosen as the recipient for the Sabine Hall of Fame’s Accomplishment Award, according to Pete Abington, chairman. Small, a senior at Many High, will be honored at the annual banquet on Tuesday, April 1 at the VFW Hall in Many. Door will open at 6 p.m. Tickets, which may be purchased at Pete Abington’s Office and MidSouth Bank in Many, are $35 each. Derrick is the son of Marty and Jana Carver and Casey Small, all of Many.
