Longtime Methodist nursery worker retires; honored by UMW for service

Known as “Miss Silvia” to the children, she was a faithful and loving woman, who watched after the babies and small children each Sunday in the church nursery. Accompanied by her family to worship service at the First United Methodist Church on Sunday, January 29, she was surprised to be honored not only during services but afterward with a large reception.

We know we have bad roads in our Natchitoches parish, but some really believe that Sabine parish has much better roads but this is just some of the proof that they are no more better off than we are. My husband’s house is located on Horn Drive, which is located off of Highway 474, when you turn onto Prospect road then onto Jones road, you are in for flooded waters. After the recent rain Jones Road was completely flooded in places. Why? Because no one works the roads!

Can you believe that we are already into a new year? But this year starts out with a newly engaged couple and that couple is Courtney Branam of Negreet and Connor Settle of Many. Courtney Brooke Branam is the daughter of Candy Bridwell Branam of Many and Clint Branam of Negreet. Her grandparents are Dan and Penny Salter of Many, Liz Bowman of Shreveport and Ron Bowman of Princeton. Courtney is a 2012 graduate of Negreet High School and she is also the owner and operator of Coco’s Day Care, that is located in the Negreet area.
