MidSouth Bank awards $7,000 in SNAP funds to Zwolle couple

MidSouth Bank has awarded $7,000 in FHLB SNAP Grant funds to homeowners Jerry and Pamela Cartinez of Zwolle.

The couple used the funds to purchase and install a 4-ton heat and cooling pump and to make other modifications to their home.

Sabine Chapter meets at Fort Jesup

The Sabine Chapter, DAR held its regular meeting on Saturday, February 17 at the Fort Jesup State Historic Site.

The group was welcomed by Miss Fort Jesup Lauren Cheatwood and enjoyed a presentation by Scott Debose.

Debose spoke on the history of the fort along with the DAR’s contributions to its preservation. He concluded with the current work and aspirations of the Friends of Fort Jesup. The rich history of the area is certainly worth the preservation efforts of this group. In honor of his presentation, Sabine Chapter presented a check of $100 to Debose for the Friends group.

Lott Oil donates to MHS

Many High School recently received a $500 Educational Alliance Grant from Lott Oil Company, Incorporated. The grant was made possible by Lott Oil Company’s participation in this year’s Educational Alliance Program. Exxon Mobil has a long history of supporting educational programs like the Educational Alliance. The company has a history of deep and meaningful community involvement. Educational alliance in conjunction with Lott Oil Company focuses on improvements in areas from preschool to higher education.
