City Bank assists Thanksgiving dinner

City Bank employees delivered water for the “Free Thanksgiving Dinner” sponsored by the Black Heritage Festival. The dinner was held on Thursday, November 28, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the old Many Junior High Cafeteria at 850 Highland Avenue in Many. Scott Gowen, left, of the Central Sabine Fire Department was rewarded a grant by Weyerhaeuser. Grants like these go a long way in assisting local volunteer fire departments, who face an uphill battle when it comes to local fire safety.

Weyerhaeuser was extremely gracious in awarding a grant to help with the renovation and opening of the Toledo Bend/Zwolle Museum. As a good community partner, Weyerhaeuser issues a number of grants each year to local schools and community-oriented organizations and this year chose a number of deserving entities to help. New “Little Pantry” makes debut at Many 1 st United Methodist Church

A new mission at Many’s First United Methodist Church began Sunday, Nov. 10 following services. The Rev. Many Junior High names 2019-2020 officers

Serving as Many Junior High 4-H Officers for the 2019-2020 school year are reporter Harlie Cruse, Treasurer Trevor McLendon, President Makenzie Tedder, Photographer Jacey Cedars, Reporter Kaitlyn Hall, Vice President Karagan Hopkins, Secretary Reese Koss, and Photographer Chloe Meshell.

The Many Jr. High 4-H club would like to announce the officers and committee members for the 2019-20 school year.

They are President Makenzie Tedder, Vice President Karagan Hopkins, Secretary Reese Koss, Reporters Harlie Cruse and Kaitlyn Hall, Photographers Chloe Meshell and Jacey Cedars, and Treasurer Trevor McLendon.

Serving on the Health Committee is Taralyn Brumfield, Diamond Jackson, Sha’nya Levy, and Lyric Palmer.

NSU to assist town of Many with museum

NSU to assist town of Many with museum

Northwestern State University and the Many Cultural District Committee signed an agreement in which faculty and staff will provide expertise in collecting, curating, interpreting and displaying artifacts for Many’s Sabine Parish Historical Museum. From left are Many Mayor Ken Freeman, Dr. Greg Handel, NSU’s provost and vice president for Academic Affairs; Mary Brocato, president of the Cultural District Committee, and NSU President Dr. Chris Maggio.

Northwestern State University signed a cooperative agreement with the City of Many to provide advisory services to the Many Cultural District Committee in selecting and exhibiting historic photographs, artwork and other items to exhibit at Many’s Sabine Parish Historical Museum, the former Kansas City Southern Depot.

Many Mayor Ken Freeman and City Councilwoman Mary Brocato represented the Committee in formalizing the agreement saying they hope NSU faculty and staff with expertise in regional history, culture and preservation will help organize, curate and exhibit the items to tell stories of the area and people who have lived there.
