Funeral services for Dale Skinner, 85, of Zwolle, LA, will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Pleasant Hill High School Gymnasium with Bishop Anthony Mangun and Pastor Gentry Mangun officiating. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 5:00 PM at Warren Meadows Funeral Home, Many LA.

Dale Skinner was born on Tuesday, July 4, 1939. He passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024 in Shreveport, LA.

Dale attended school in Belmont, Louisiana where he played basketball. He graduated from Northwestern State University. His educational career started in 1962 and he retired as a Superintendent of Natchitoches Parish in 2020. He served faithfully in education as a teacher, coach, principal and superintendent for well over 50 years. He also served on the Sabine Parish School Board. Dale coached many successful basketball teams. Coach Skinner was inducted into the LHSAA Basketball Hall of Fame. He also led his team in DeRidder to a number 7 national ranking. He coached many years in Sabine Parish, including Florien, Many and Pleasant Hill. Mr. Skinner mentored many coaches and students. He also served as an assistant Basketball coach at Northwestern State University and McNeese State University.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Skinner and Velma (Austin) Skinner; brother, Don Skinner; sister, Mavis Stephens and his granddaughter, Brinkley Gabrielle Skinner.

He is survived by his son, Michael Skinner and wife Melissa of Prineville, OR; daughter, Leah Skinner of Zwolle, LA; grandchildren: Zachary Skinner, Dayton Longoria, Madison Fraley and Carter Skinner; great granddaughter, Noel Skinner; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
