Funeral services for Annie Gennievie Fisher, 98, of Hornbeck, LA, will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Many, LA with Bro. Wayne Chance officiating. Burial will follow in the Prewitt Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at 6:00 PM at Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Many, LA.

Born February 17, 1925 in the small community of Plainview, Sabine Parish, Louisiana to Lorenzo and Minnie Loretta Withers Brown. She was the youngest of eight siblings. She passed away August 7, 2023 at her residence.

She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband and father of her children, Henry Woodrow Chance, her second husband, Howard A. Fisher, daughter, Melba D. Gillespie, son, Lorenzo “Randy” Chance, grandson, Randall W. Sigler, great great-grandson, Layden Chance Mathis, and step-daughter, Bonny Fisher McCarter. Six brothers: Troy, Kermit, Harvel, Elmer, Chester, and Guy, and one sister, Hayden.

Gennievie was always a hard worker. Cleaning houses, taking in ironing and sewing or whatever she could to help raise her children. In 1972, she started night school to obtain her GED so she could go to LPN school. She drove the trade school van, hauling other nursing students to attend school in Natchitoches. After graduating she worked the night shift at Byrd Hospital in Leesville, Louisiana. She later worked at BJAC Hospital at Fort Polk, Louisiana until health reasons forced her to retire.

Gennievie loved to hunt, fish, and work in her yard.

She considered herself lucky in life because she had been married to two wonderful men.

Gennie is survived by her daughter, Nelta V. Nolen of Hornbeck, LA, son, Delwin Chance and wife, Janice of Orange, TX, step-daughter, Helen (Chris) Parker of Jones, OK, step-son, Ricky A. Fisher of Florida, daughter-in-law, Spencer Chance of Hornbeck, LA, and son-in-law, Tyrace Gillespie. Eleven grandchildren: Malandi C. Reed, Bruce Chance, Keith Sigler, Sonya S. Smith, Jennifer Sigler, Alecia S. Rubar, Timothy Chance, Perry Chance, Evan Chance, Jessie Nolen III, and Henry Nolen. Thirty-Two great grandchildren, Twenty-Nine great great-grandchildren, and Two great great-great grandchildren.

The family wishes to express a sincere Thank You to Joan Snell who spent many hours with Gennievie, to the staff of Passages Hospice and to Sonya Smith who came and helped take care of her the last couple of weeks.

Gennievie will be missed by her family and friends but she is in the arms of Jesus. She is no longer in pain and can finally rest.

Pallbearers will be: Keith Sigler, Timmy Chance, Jessie Nolen III, Henry Nolen, Rodney Nolen, and Joseph Nolen.
