Shelton Jay Roark

Shelton Roark passed away April 4, 2023. He was 80.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Rita Wright Roark; daughter Sonya R. Crist (Sam) of Jacksonville, FL; stepson Dr. Casey D. Hendricks (Lisa) of Mandeville, LA; two brothers Phillip Roark of Many, LA and Richard Roark of Fairview, TX; one sister Marilyn Booker of Many, LA; five grandchildren: Haley, Hanna and Hunter Crist and Ella and Ben Hendricks.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James A. Roark and Aylene Leach Roark; brother Tommy Roark and wife Pam; and sister Evelyn Armour.

Shelton was a Mason for 49 years and a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Negreet, LA.

He graduated from Many High School and Northwestern State University.

Shelton started his career as a car salesman and ended his career as a salesman of high voltage electrical testing.

He took great pride in his yard keeping it mowed and trimmed at all times. Folks knew something was wrong when they saw a lawn service mowing.

A memorial service will be held at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Negreet, April 8, 2023 at 1:00 PM. Dr. Leah Byles will read the eulogy followed by the service directed by Rev. Jimmy Glover.

Pallbearers are Norman Booker, Jr., Gale Byles, Nolan Byles, Layton Byles, Trent Roark, Tyler Roark, Elton Savell, James “Bugs” Veuleman and Blain Veuleman.

A masonic burial will follow in the Zion Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the charity of your choice.
