Jenny Petit was born on August 25th, 1979 in Shreveport, LA to Bobby & Vickey Salter. She left this world for her eternal home on October 25, 2022. Jenny is survived by her husband, Anthony Petit & her son, Aidan Heredia, both of Florien, a brother, Jerad Salter, of Florien, niece Taylor Drewett of Pottsboro, TX, cousins, Trish Rivers of Florien, LA, and Jason Holcomb (and wife Michelle) of Woodworth, LA, cousins Caroline Hubbard of El Dorado, AR, Lynlee Holcomb of DeRidder, and Landry Holcomb of Woodworth, LA, an uncle, Ricky Leach, of Florien, LA, and an aunt, Jerry Holcomb of Florien, LA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Bobby & Vickey Salter, a brother, Jeremy Salter, Paternal grandparents J.B. & Maxine Salter, maternal grandparents, V.L. & & Louise Leach, Uncle and Aunt Coy & Carolyn Holcomb, and cousin Phillip Rivers.

All throughout her childhood, Jenny was known to everyone she knew as a vibrant, outgoing, beauty. She competed in beauty pageants as a child and teenager and won & held several titles during those years. She was active in school clubs, and served many times as a class officer during her high school years. She attempted basketball, but that just wasn’t in the cards for Jenny. She may or may not have been the ringleader in the infamous “egging episode”, which threatened jailtime and possible disqualification in her senior homecoming activities. Even with all the shenanigans she participated in, Jenny still graduated with honors in 1997 from Florien High School.

Jenny married her high school sweetheart in 2001. They were married for 5 years, but decided to part ways. Jenny didn’t let it keep her down for too long. She was living her life to the fullest when she met her second husband. They were married in 2008, and God blessed her with the most precious gift in 2009, her son Aidan. If you knew anything about Jenny at all, then you knew Aidan was her absolute world. From that point on, and until her last breath, her days revolved around Aidan. She doted on him, bragged on him, and followed & cheered him on at literally hundreds of baseball and basketball games. She was extremely proud of him and was looking forward to cheering him on for his first year on the varsity team as an 8th Grader!

When things didn’t work out in her second marriage, she had pretty much given up on love and focused on Aidan. Well, God had other plans for her. They say the third time is a charm, and a charm is what she got when she met Anthony. He swooped right in and took on the role of step-father so well that one would think he had years of training. Jenny and Anthony were married in 2017. She always bragged on how he was such a good caretaker of everyone and everything around him. Anthony spoiled Jenny as much as one could spoil anybody. He treated her like a queen and loved Aidan like he was his own.

Jenny loved everyone in her circle, but the love of her family was like that of no other. Jenny and her brother, Jerad, were loved and spoiled by their parents for as long as they lived on this earth. Jenny loved them with all her heart, and her world was shattered at each of their deaths. Jenny was forever grateful for her cousin, Trish, who was more like a sister to her. Through all of her struggling times in life, she relied on advice and consolation from Trish. They had a bond like no other.

To know Jenny was to love her. If she was out and about, you knew she was there (even if you didn’t see her) because you could hear that infectious laugh for miles. She could always be found in the clowning section because she wanted to be where the fun was at. Smiling and laughing is how we will remember her, because that’s who she was…a precious, happy soul gone too soon.

Homegoing services for Jenny will be at Antioch Baptist Church in Florien. Visitation will be on Saturday at 6:00 pm at Antioch, with funeral services on Sunday at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in the Antioch Baptist Cemetery. Bro Wayne Chance will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Chris Alford, Jason Holcomb, Brian Miller, Scott Miller, Jared Petit, Jacob Rivers, Bubba Savell, and Steven Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Swindle and the FHS Basketball team and Jacob Oxley and the FHS Baseball team.
