Retha Eallana Crouch

Retha Crouch of Vidor Texas (formerly of Zwolle, Louisiana) passed away peacefully on June 27,2022 at the age of 76, surrounded by family and friends. Retha was born February 24, 1946 in Charleston, West Virginia to Earvin and Ruth Shaffer. She married Larry Drexel Crouch February 4,1961 and together raised a family to include 3 daughters, Sara, Belinda, Pamela and 2 sons, Larry Crouch Jr, Chad Crouch, and one daughter of their heart Karen Crouch.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Larry Drexel Crouch; son, Timothy Paul Crouch; grandson, Brandon Scott Crouch; father, Earvin Shaffer; mother, Ruth Shaffer; brothers, Jerry Shaffer and Danny Shaffer; and sister, Barbara Gil. She is survived by her children: Sara Pizzolato and husband Sonny of Hammond, LA, Belinda Murff and husband Alan of Zwolle, LA, Pamela Finley and husband Donald of Vidor, TX, Larry Crouch, Jr. and wife Reba of Winnie, TX and Chad Crouch of Vidor, TX. Grandchildren include: Jeremy Pizzolato (wife Robyn), Matthew Pizzolato, Amanda Callais (husband Scott), Kevin Murff (wife Nichole), Troy Murff (wife Amanda), Wesly Murff (wife Anna), Christopher Finley (wife Shelley), Bridgette Holland (husband Brandon), Alyssa Cooper (husband Cody), Larry Crouch III (wife Crystal) and Lilea Fisher; great-grandchildren: Olivia Pizzolato, Jackson Pizzolato, Ella Goodman, Emersyn Holland, Nathan Cooper and Bethany Cooper. Her siblings are Brenda Chavez (husband Rudy) of Fisher LA and David Shaffer of Long Beach, CA.

Her service was Saturday July 2, 2022 at Fisher Cemetery in Fisher, Louisiana with Rev. Johnny Perkins officiating.

Pallbearers: Jeremy Pizzolato, Troy Murff, Wesly Murff, Christopher Finley, Larry Crouch III, Rudy Chavez Jr., Scott Callais and Cody Cooper.

Honorary Pallbearers: Kevin Murff and Matthew Pizzolato.

Her greatest joy was being a grandmother. She was affectionately called Maw-Maw by not just her grandchildren and great grandchildren, but by nieces and nephews and even friends’ children. She became every child’s Maw-Maw

If you look her up on LinkedIn you will find she listed her “occupation” as “Grandmother at Pam’s House”.

She loved going on Cruises. The beach was her favorite place.
