Funeral services for James R. “Randy” Veuleman, 76, of Many, LA, will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at 11:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Tim Hurd officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Randy was born on Friday, February 24, 1950 in Many, LA. He passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Sabine Retirement & Rehabilitation Center in Many, LA.
He was preceded in death by his parents James Hoyt and Grace Veuleman, and brother, Doyle Veuleman.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Shirley Veuleman; daughters, Jennie G’sell and husband Rusty, and Kerri Adcock; sister, Patsy Hayes; and grandchildren, Russell G’sell, Grace G’sell, Mckinley Adcock, and Hayden Adcock; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Sabine Retirement and Rehab Center and Superior Hospice for the excellent care they provided.
Randy was a hardworking man who believed in providing for his family and serving his community. Throughout his life he worked at Lowrey Chevrolet, Valley Electric, and Sabine State Bank, while also serving on the Sabine Parish School Board. As a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, he was also active in the Knights of Columbus.
Outside of work, Randy found his greatest joy in the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, and woodworking, and he had a talent for designing and building beautiful furniture for his home. He even built special birdhouses for Shirley, combining his craftsmanship with the quiet ways he showed his love for his family.
Some of his daughters’ favorite memories were the years spent showing cows and horses through 4-H, experiences that reflected the time, patience, and encouragement he gave them as they grew up.
Randy treasured lifelong friendships, especially the one he shared with his best friend since childhood, Mike Nichols. Together they accumulated a lifetime of stories and laughter, and even after all those years, they could still spend hours reminiscing about their shenanigans throughout the years.
Anyone who knew Randy also knew he had a sweet tooth. He never passed up a good banana pudding or milkshake, a trait that often brought a smile to those around him.
Above all else, Randy was devoted to his family. He was a loving husband of 54 years, a proud father, and a cherished grandfather. His steady presence, generous heart, and the memories he created with those he loved will be treasured always.
