Sharon Montang

Sharon Montang

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Sharon, our loving mother, Mamaw, sister, and friend. She left us while sleeping peacefully in Meridian, Idaho. She was born December 8, 1953, in Sabine Parish, a daughter of the late Wiley Wedgeworth and Jewel Kelly Wedgeworth.

Sharon met her lifelong sweetheart through working at Stark’s in Many years ago. It took Ray a while to get Sharon to agree to date, but his hard work paid off. They fell in love, and got married on July 5, 1980. Ray adopted Connie and Danny, not long after and so their story began. A couple years later, Matt was born, and a year after that, Lori.

Sharon always put her children first. She was a fiercely protective mother and always made sure her kids were taken care of. After her children were in school, Sharon pursued an education at Sabine Valley Technical School in Business. Sharon was one of the first students to work on a computer at the school. She assisted in providing training for other students on the platform at the time.

After her time at the technical school, Sharon started working in housekeeping at Big Bass Marina. She outworked everyone in the department, and for a long while ran the department by herself. Sharon loved working at the marina and being outside. Following her time at Big Bass Marina, she transitioned to a housekeeping position at Cypress Bend, and ascended to the head of housekeeping there, too.

In the years after retiring, she focused on family and reading - her favorite hobby. Sharon enjoyed being around her grandchildren and finding peace in the simplicity of life. Mom was known for her independence and confidence - and she did not have a shortage of either. Mom taught us the importance of perseverance and family values. We will continue to honor her legacy through the love and lessons she provided.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Connie Barnhart (Kevin) of Many, LA, Danny Montang (Brandi) of Many, LA, Matthew Montang (Sheila) of Shreveport, LA, and Lori Sepulvado (David) of Boise, ID. Siblings: Marsha Cormier (Dan) of Many, LA, Phyllis Greer (Miles) of Many, LA, Great Aunt: Peggy Crittenden, Grandchildren: Chelsea Gallagher (James) of Santa Maria, CA; Grant of St. Louis Obispo, CA; Jordan Grant (Brenda) of Carthage, TX; Sean Newkirk, Marisol Castro, and Karla Lucio of Many, LA; Kyle Montang of Many, LA; and Dawson and Noah Sepulvado of Boise, ID. Great Grandchildren: Kyleigh Savoy and Kenyon Savoy of Santa Maria, CA, Noah Grant, Bailey Grant, and Oliver Grant of Carthage, TX. Survived by a host of nieces and nephews, family, and friends. Pall Bearers: Kevin Barnhart, David Sepulvado, Danny Montang, Matt Montang, Jordan Grant, Grant, Kenny McCormic, and Josh McCormic.

Sharon was preceded in death by her spouse Raymond Montang, brothers Ricky Wedgeworth and Michael Wedgeworth, sisters Charlene McCormic and Sonya Doucet, and Great Granddaughter Gracelynn Grant.

We know she is at rest in heaven with our father, and we will see her again one day.
