Memorial services for Peggy Lynn Maxey, 79, of Many, LA, will be held on Monday, April 18, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Aimwell Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen Neesley officiating. Visitation to begin at 10:00 AM, an hour before services at Aimwell Baptist Church, Zwolle, LA.

Peggy Lynn Maxey was born on Tuesday, August 25, 1942 in Paxton, TX. She passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Toledo Nursing Center in Zwolle, LA.

Peggy was a loving wife and mother. Not only raising 2 children, but taking on that role for 2 of her grandchildren. She used her skills to open and run a home daycare for many years. She was a leader in the children’s ministry at Aimwell Baptist Church for over 20 years.

Peggy was an accomplished seamstress. Sewing wedding gowns, formals for the Tamale Fiesta and sewing for family and friends. She even fashioned the queen’s robe used for many years at the fiesta’s pageant.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arlie George Thompson and Eva Verona (Hutto) Thompson; husband, R. L. Maxey; son, Tony Lynn Maxey; sister, Rose Ann Rideout; brothers, Arlie Gene Thompson and Charlie B. Thompson; and her brother-in-law, Edsel Warr.

She is survived by her son, Robert Maxey and wife Carolyn of Many, LA; daughter, Cheryl Barker of Zwolle, LA; sisters: Delores “Jo” Warr of Center, TX, Winona Preston and husband John of Center, TX, Trudie Willis and husband Thomas of Diana, TX, Nora Robinson and husband Wade of Joaquin, TX and Ruby Everitt of Joaquin, TX; sisters-in-law, Charlsie Packwood of Tenaha, TX, Thelma Anderson of Shreveport, LA and Ruth Seabaugh of Many, LA; brother-in-law, David Rideout of Nacogdoches, TX; grandchildren: Daniel Henderson and fiancé Chriss Long of Many, LA, Colleen Maxey of Winnfield, LA, Paula Leone and husband Jason of Zwolle, LA, Jeffery Barker and wife Cheyenne of Many, LA and Kevin Barker and fiancé Allison Dibartolo of Zwolle, LA; fifteen great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to thank Toledo Nursing Center and Hospice of Natchitoches for their amazing care of our mother/grandmother.
