Glenn Dowden

Funeral services for Glenn Dowden, 74, of Many, were held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Lakeside Baptist Church with Brother Bill Craft officiating. Burial followed in the Lakeside Cemetery.

Glenn Dowden was born on Monday, November 10, 1947 in Natchitoches. He passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Edith Young Dowden; brother, James “Jimmy” Dowden; and his grandson, Jude Matthew Gentry. Mr. Dowden graduated from Natchitoches High School in 1966 and served in the U.S. Navy from April 1967 to May 1971 during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Cook Dowden of Many, LA; son, Dr. Luke Dowden and wife Amy of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Elizabeth Gentry and husband Shawn of Shreveport, LA; sisters: Sybil Brown of Campti, LA, Carrie Delrie of Bossier City, LA, Margaret Dobson of Jamestown, LA and Florence Johnson of Campti, LA; grandchildren: Gabe Dowden, Issac Dowden, Henry Dowden, Jace Gentry, Eden Gentry and Embree Gentry; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers: Tracy Bowling, Cory Bowling, Blake Bowling, Randy Moore, Jody Britt, Tommy Delrie, Mike Delrie and Robert Delrie.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations in Mr. Dowden’s name be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Sabine Humane Society.
