Susan Fisher Hagel

Susan Hagel, 77, passed away Monday, September 13, 2021 at her home in Many. Susan was born February 5, 1944, the oldest of 10 children born to Bertha (Hopwood) and Raymond Fisher. She graduated from Manual High School in 1962, where she met the love of her life and future husband Wayne Ira Hagel, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Nancy Goewey, and one brother, Raymond George Fisher.

Susan proudly worked for Caterpillar Tractor for 30 years, retiring in 1994, when she and her husband relocated to Toledo Bend Lake in Louisiana. She became active in the Toledo Lions Club, the Negreet Booster and PTA.

Susan never met a stranger. Once you met her, you were a friend for life. She had a accrued many endearing titles in her life. Mom, Maw, Sis, Susie, Aunt Sis, Aunt Susie, Mrs. Hagel and “Fisher girl”. She loved being from a large family with quite a legacy of love.

She was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Many. She loved her church and her church family. Before her illness, Maw was a very active member and enjoyed being part of anything going on at the church.

Mrs. Hagel is survived by children, Mark Hagel and wife Michelle of Bartonville, Illinois; daughter, Carol Peace and husband Russell of Many; brothers, Glen Fisher and wife Dottie; David Fisher and wife Georgianne; John Fisher and wife Dodie; sisters, Mary Ryan and husband Greg; Peggy Stark and husband Larry; Jane Hardin and husband Jerry; June Rosenbohm and husband Paul; sister-in-law, Linda Fisher and brother-in-law Ken Goewey; grandchildren, Matthew Peace and wife Hilary; Andrew Hagel and wife Christina; Ashley Hagel; Zack Peace and wife Lanie; Kelly Peace and wife Michaela; Caitlin Huber-Thomas; Lora Peace; Emma Peace; great grandchildren, SaraGrace; Keaton; Kash; Caroline; Nolen; Kierra; and Mariah; adopted family, Boyd and Joella Peace; Sara and Ronnie Ebarb; Bob; Kristy; Conner; Caden; Hayes Harper; and Larry Lundeen (her son from another mother).

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Oak Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Gilcrease and Rev. Bob Harper officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Honoring her as pallbearers are John Fisher, Glen Fisher, Dave Fisher, David Fisher, Joe Colby, Larry Lundeen, Paul Rosenbohm, and Greg Ryan.
