Barton Lee Rumsey

Funeral Services for Barton Lee Rumsey, 82, of Many were held on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Cypress Bend Resort with the burial to follow in the Many Cemetery in Many.

Barton Lee Rumsey was born to Richard A. and Elizabeth Rumsey on July 17, 1939 in DeRidder. He passed away peacefully at his home in Many on August 24, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Forrest Rumsey; a sister, Marjorie Rumsey Cryar; and his son-in-law, Malcom Kent Williams.

He is survived by his wife Linda O’Banion Murray Rumsey of Many; his son, Bart Rumsey, Jr. and wife, Angie of Denham Springs; daughter, Cherry Murray Williams; granddaughter, Anna Cate Wright and husband Dustin and sons, William Chad and Major Kent of Many; grandson, Patrick Murray Williams and wife Brittney and sons, Judah Mac, Micah Ray, and Isaiah Kent of Wytheville, Virginia; granddaughter, Brandi Reams and husband Johnel and daughter, Reece of Denham Springs, Louisiana; granddaughter, Megan Rumsey and son, Lane of Livonia, Louisiana; brother, Robert Rumsey of DeRidder; sister, Bea Sanson of Newton, Texas; and sister June Coryell of Kansas City, Missouri; along with a host of friends.

Pallbearers were Becky Anderson, Ester Burnette, Mike Carr, Kellie Ferguson, Warren Founds, Gene Guidry, Chevelos Medlock, Harold Temple, and Susie Wright.

Honorary Pallbearers are all SRA Employees & Staff.

Following graduation from Louisiana Tech with a Civil Engineering Degree, Bart began a long career with the Sabine River Authority and was still working there at the time of his death.
