EMPLOYEE SHORTAGE

How many of you have heard business owners complain that they can’t find employees. This might be of some help. This appeared on the internet where the Cato Institute released an updated 2016 study showing that welfare benefits pay more than a minimum wage job in 33 states and the District of Columbia. Even worse, welfare pays more than $15 per hour to stay at home in 13 states. It’s more profitable to sit at home and watch TV than it is to earn an honest day’s pay.

Look at this. This is a list of the states where the pre-tax equivalent “salary” that welfare recipients receive is higher than having a job:

Hawaii, $60,590; District of Columbia, $50,821; Massachusetts, $50,540; Connecticut, $44,370; New York, $43,700; California, $37,160; Kansas, $26, 490; Alabama, $23,310; Louisiana, $22,250 and the list goes on and on. Hawaii, DC and Massachusetts pay more in welfare than the average wage folks earn there. As you can see, we are paying people not to work and this is just a very small group I have listed. While we are at it, the salary of retired United States Presidents is $180,000 for life, salary for House/Senate is $174,000 for life, salary of the Speaker of the House is $223,500 for life, salary of Majority minority Leader is $193,400 for life, average salary of a teacher $40, 065 and average salary of a soldier deployed in Afghanistan is $38,000.
