The Sabine Parish School Board passed a resolution granting permission to girl students and female teachers to wear pantsuits to school. Bessie Lang, Dean of Girls at Many High School, brought the request to the Board. No jeans or shorts are allowed.

Bob Barnes, a night watchman in Pleasant Hill was taken at gunpoint and robbed of his billfold at 2 a.m., According to the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office, the assailant pulled a high-powered rifle on Barnes, took him in his truck to a Highway 175 location and told him to start walking. Barnes began walking back to Pleasant Hill, when the assailant fired a shot. Grazing Barnes’ head. Barnes pulled a hidden weapon and emptied the magazine into his assailant, killing him. The assailant was a Pleasant Hill man.
