Joy Dee Ferrant

Joy Dee Ferrant

Joy Ferrant stepped to heaven’s portal on August 27, 2020, at the age of 94. Joy was ready to tell everyone she knew that the Son of God, Jesus Christ, paid the entire debt for her sin. So, when God Almighty was ready, He took her into heaven because of His Son.

Joy and her twin brother were born on July 3, 1926 in Corbin, Louisiana. She enjoyed school and earned a degree in education at Southeastern during WWII. She was introduced to Paul C. Ferrant, a Ponchatoula soldier returning from the war. He noticed her immediately because of her vibrant personality. She and Paul married in 1946 just after she finished her degree. They celebrated their seventy-fourth anniversary on June 9, 2020.

Joy and Paul moved their family to Ebarb in 1959 when Paul became a pastor in the area. They both fell in love with the land and the people. Joy enjoyed good food and was a great cook. She fed many pastors and church members at her table. She especially enjoyed the hot tamales of the area and once even made her own. She fished in Toledo Bend and at times paddled a pirogue to fish on the lake. She enjoyed planting flowers and sharing the blessings God gave her.

Joy taught school at Ebarb until she retired in 1986. She enjoyed reading biographies and Christian material. She read, studied and taught the Word of God to children and adults in Sunday School and Bible School all her life.

Joy Ferrant is preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Floy Daniel; her older brother, Gordon Daniel; daughter-in-law, Rachel Ann Ferrant.

Those she leaves on this earth with great memories of her include her husband, Paul C. Ferrant; two sons, Paul Wayne Ferrant (Merle); Dale Ferrant (Ann); and one daughter, Verena Harp (Jack).

She had six grandchildren, Mark; Angela (Barry); Wesley (April); Bradley (Samantha); Susan (Trey); and Stephanie. She had three great grandchildren, Paige (Mario); Connor; and Owen. She had also looked forward to the birth of her fourth great grandchild, Lucas.

Joy is also survived by her twin brother, Roy Daniel (Eva) and his family; her sister-in-law, Ola Daniel and her family; and many, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is at home with God the Father glorifying Him in the eternal abode He created for His children.

Funeral services for Joy Dee Ferrant, 94, of Zwolle, LA, were held on Friday, September 4, 2020 at Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Chapel on the Lake Cemetery off Merritt Mountain Road.
