Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Sparks will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Many, LA. Visitation for BJ will begin at 11:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM with burial to follow at Aimwell Cemetery in Zwolle, LA. Barbara was born August 27, 1930 in Peoria, Illinois to Rudy Scholl and Gladys Craig Scholl and she entered into rest on August 24, 2019 at Toledo Retirement.

BJ was a very active lady in her lake community; she was a member and Queen of the Red Hats, she held numerous offices in the Lion/Lioness Club of Toledo Bend, she was a member of the Board of Directors at the Sabine Council of Aging. In addition, she was actively involved in the Louisiana Eye Foundation where she tested student’s vision all over the area in schools. Also, she taught arts & crafts at Walmart. It is very evident that Barbara loved people and enjoyed spending time trying to improve the Zwolle/Toledo Bend area. Two of her favorite past times were playing bingo and Pokeno with friends and family members.

Preceding Barbara in death were her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Rudy Scholl; husband, W.E. “Sparky” Sparks; son, Arthur “Butch” Carlson; and her daughter, Janice Garcie. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Ann Brown of Peoria, Illinois; grandchildren, Brian Dunbar of Chillicothe, Illinois, Tammara Howell, and husband, Jeffrey of Nokomis, Illinois; along with 6 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren.

Barbara’s family would like to thank all the staff at Toledo Retirement for the friendship, comfort and care they provided over the past several years for her.
