Norma Jean Whitmer, age 80, of Many, passed away November 13, 2018, at Sabine Retirement and Rehabilitation Center in Many. She was born February 20, 1938, in Marshall, Missouri, the daughter of Frances Johnson and Raymond Scott.

She attended grade school in Marshall and received her GED later in life. In March 1957, she was united in marriage to Gale Eugene Whitmer and to this union six children were born. She was employed by Lee’s Motel in Carrollton Missouri; Banner Biscuit Company in Carrollton; and the Sabine River Authority in Many which she retired from in 1996.

Norma’s hobbies included fishing, writing, watching nature, especially hummingbirds, squirrels, and sharing her faith. She was of the Jehovah’s Witness faith and attended the Kingdom Hall’s in Many and Carrollton.

She is survived by her children, Danny Whitmer and wife, Diane, of Carrollton Missouri, Anita Colliver and husband, Mark, of Tina Missouri, and Cindy Morse and husband, Kenny, of St. Joseph Missouri; sister, Linda Atherton of Sedalia, Missouri; brother, Ron Scott and wife, Carol of Jefferson City, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Frances; sons, Tony, Larry Gene, and Gary Dean; brother, Raymond Scott; grandson, Cody Daniel Whitmer; and two nephews.

Memorial services were held November 24 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Many, and a second memorial service will be held on December 1 at 10 a.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Carrollton, Missouri. A private family inurnment will be held on December 2 at the Braden Cemetery, Coloma, Missouri.
