Katherine Carter, 89, was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to her family. She passed away peacefully at her home in Many on February 17, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born in Nacogdoches, Texas on July 4, 1928. She moved to Baytown, Texas in 1952 where she resided for over 50 years. During that time she was employed for over 30 years at General Telephone Company. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Terry Glenn Rao; husband, James Carter; parents, Calvin Henry and Nina Elizabeth Banks Bowden; sister, Lorie Washburn; and brothers, Charlie Bowden and Max Bowden. She is survived by her daughters, Lynn Truxillo and husband, Nick, of Cat Spring, Texas and Susan Rao Hills and husband, Chris, of Many; stepson, Bob Rao and wife, Pat, of Lexington, Texas; brother, Calvin H. Bowden, Jr. and wife, Ilaverne, of Nacogdoches, Texas; grandchildren, Allen Smith of Houston, Texas, Richard Smith and wife, Karen, of Willis, Texas, and Amy Davis of Many; great grandchildren, Cody Smith and wife, Stephanie, Kayden Smith, Brandon Smith, Richard Smith, Jr., Tyler Smith, Ethan Goldberg, and Ayden Goldberg; great-great-grandchildren, Kingston Lynn Smith and Richlynn Elizabeth Smith; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A special mention and appreciation is made to her nurses/ sitters who spent many hours caring and loving her like family: Natalie Williams of Many, Jerrica Sweet of Many, Aaliyah Williams of Many, Keishia Gunn of Many, and Brittany Jett of Zwolle. A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Cat Spring, Texas.
