Wilbur “Sonny” Hayes Farrar, 80, beloved husband, father, grandfather,  brother, uncle and friend to many, went to be with The Lord on March 27, 2014. Funeral services honoring his life were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014, in the Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Donnie Paul Lewing, Bro. Joe Hendrickson and Danny Manuel officiated.
Interment followed in the Friendship Cemetery. “Sonny” was born on August 15, 1933, in Many. He entered into eternal rest on March 27, 2014, at Cornerstone Hospital in Bossier City. Sonny worked at Fort Polk for 25 years and retired. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge for 50 years and recently joined the Shriners Club. He was an active  ember
of Lewing Chapel Church for a number of years, along with his children. He was a good husband, father, grandfather and was dearly loved by many friends and relatives because he loved to talk and meet people. He will be greatly missed by family and all. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Franklin Farrar and Mary Lucinda Hayes Farrar; brothers, Melvin Farrar, Kelvin Farrar and Homer Farrar; sisters, Edna Cedar, Velva Patton and Annie Mae Dew. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Flora Stevens Farrar of Many; daughter, Donna Kay Rodrigues and husband, James “Rabbit” of Many; son, Terry Lane Farrar and wife, Janet of Many; sister, Clovis Patton of Ashdown, Ark.; brother, Leonard Farrar of Liberty City, Texas; grandchildren Shane Kennedy and wife, Jodi, Trent Farrar, Ryan  Rodrigues, Sonya Powell, Greg Powell; great-grandchildren, Joshua Kennedy, Shaina Kennedy, Justin Powell, Maressa Strebeck and husband, David, Trey Martin, Logan Martin; great-great-grandchild, Noah Strebeck; special friend Danny Manuel and wife, Donna; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Honoring him as pallbearers were Ryan Rodrigues,  hane Kennedy, Trent Farrar, Joshua Kennedy, Joshua Manuel, Norman Dew and Trey Martin. Honorary pallbearers were Steven Estes, Scott Manuel, Rusty Welch, Marty Starks, Paul Patton, Dewayne Farrar, C.M. Avery III and Ronald Farrar.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Sabine Medical Center, Cornerstone Hospital in Bossier City and all the medical personnel. They would also like to thank everyone for all the wonderful prayers, food, phone calls and visits. Also a heartfelt thank you to Buddy Gillis and the staff of Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
