Rosalind Carter Wright of Many passed away Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. Rosalind graduated from Many High School in 1955 and went on to earn an Associate Degree from Northwestern State University. She worked for the Department of Health and Human Services in Many for more than 28 years and held the position of assistant administrator when she retired in 1986. She continued to lead an active personal and professional life in the ensuing years, and enjoyed learning and working in different fields. She worked for the Town of Many for many years, where she played a key role in revitalizing the annual Christmas parade and activities. She was recognized for her efforts when she served as Grand Marshall of the parade in 2002 and continued to direct and support the Christmas celebration over the years. Rosalind was also active in the First Baptist Church of Many, working for a time as the church secretary and volunteering where needed. She was a charter member of the Sabine Parish Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and also a member of the Many Pilot Club, where she served several terms as secretary. Rosalind loved spending time with family and friends. She was married to Harlon Wright for 53 years and was mother to three children, grandmother to seven, and great grandmother to five. Rosalind was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Carter, her sister, Lanell Carter Beasley and her father, Doyle Carter. She is survived by her husband, Harlon Wright, son, Walker Wright and wife, Heather, daughters Ann Wright, Amy Self and husband, Randall, grandchildren Christopher Self and wife Alyssa, Michael Self and wife, Rebecca, Peter Wright and wife, Etienna, Katie and Jessica Wright, Gracie and Ella Self, and great-grandchildren Claudia, Sam and Ben Wright, Beau and Rosalie Self, and a host of nephews and nieces. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Many on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, with interment at Oakhill Baptist Church. Pallbearers were Walker Wright, Randall Self, Peter Wright, Christopher Self, Michael Self and David Beasley. Honorary pallbearers were Gerald Beasley, Bill Beasley, Steve Beasley, Mark Wright, Bill Andries, J. C. Andries and Rocky Wright.
