A celebration of life service for Alice Marie “PeeWee” Smith were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013 in Rose-Neath Mansfield Chapel with the Rev. Chuckie Clark officiating. Eastern Star services preceded the service. Burial was in Sloan Cemetery near Mansfield. Visitation was Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield. Mrs. Smith, 62, of Converse, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at her son, Terry’s home in Converse. She was a native of Carmel, La., and a longtime beautician in the community and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star at the Converse Chapter #218, where she had just received her 25-year pin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Smith; parents, James Laffitte and Alice Faye Bumbard; and an infant brother and sister. Those left to cherish her memory are sons, James Glenn Smith, Jonathan Lynn Smith, and Terry Brian Smith; daughter, Danielle Frazier and her husband David; grandchildren, James Glenn Smith, Jr., Hunter Paul Smith, Paulina Marie Smith, Kristen Tyler, and Seth Matthews; sister, Debbie Rush and her husband, Buck; numerous nieces and nephews; and her longtime friend, Joan Austin and family. Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Harvey Allen, who is also an honorary pallbearer, Robert Ebarb, Ricky Ebarb, Ernest Ebarb, Don Springer, and Bobby Cox.
