John S. Pickett, Jr.

Funeral services for John S. Pickett, Jr., 93, of Many, were on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 beginning at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church Of Many with G. “Rod” Smith and the Rev. Frances Hooten officiating. Burial followed in the Many Cemetery. Visitation was on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel in Many.
John S. Pickett, Jr. was born on Saturday, June 12, 1920 in Fisher. He passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 at his
residence in Many. John S. Pickett, Jr. served in WWII with the 8th U.S. Army Air Corp, 385th bomb group, 50th squadron.  He was an Engineer and Top Turret Gunner on a B-17 and flew 29 missions over Europe. Mr. Pickett was a member of the Sabine Parish School Board from 1960-1968. He served in the LA. State Legislature as a State Representative. From 1972-1990, Mr. Pickett served as District Judge for the 11th Judicial District. He was also a long time member of the

Tony Meshell was born Oct. 6, 1929 in Zwolle and went home to meet the Lord on Jan. 25, 2014 in Dallas, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Meshell, grandson Brian Ricarte, brothers, Joseph Meshell and Andrew Meshell, sisters, Josephine West, Lucy Rogers and Catherine Santos, and daughters-in-law, Sue Meshell and Carol Meshell. He is survived by son, Doug Meshell and wife, Lisa, son, Roger Meshell and wife, Mary, son, Mike Meshell, daughter, Janie  Ricarte and husband, T.C., daughter, Phyllis Leatherwood and husband, Paul, daughter, Dee Martinez and husband, Jose and daughter, Susan Kinney; 23 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one brother, Paul Meshell and wife, Marie; one sister, Vickie Meshell and host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was laid to rest with militrary honors in Dallas, Texas

Betty Lou Pruitt Jordan of Robeline, daughter of Sam and Maggie Pruitt, was called to her heavenly home after a lengthy
illness on Feb. 7, 2014 at Sabine Medical Center. Services celebrating her life were held on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 at Apostolic Truth Tabernacle Church at 2 p.m. in Robeline. The Rev. Jody Farrell officiated. Interment followed in Lambertown Cemetery. Betty Lou affectionately known by everyone as “Granny” was a homemaker who loved to fish and watch football. She loved to go to garage sales and spend time with her family. She  was very much loved and will be

Frank Oscar Pearson, Jr.

A memorial service honoring the life of Frank Oscar Pearson, Jr., 73, of Many was held on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at 5 p.m. in the Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel. Frank was born in Racine, Wisconsin on Mar. 27, 1940. He entered into eternal rest on Feb. 4, 2014 in Shreveport. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He worked as a chemical engineer until his retirement. His parents, Frank and Helen Pearson, Sr. and a sister, Barbara Wisniski preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Joy Ann Pearson of Many; sons, Scott Pearson and wife, Belle of Iron River, MN, Brandon Pearson and wife, Kate of Florissant, MO; brother, Ray Pearson and wife, Donna of WI; five grandchildren; step-children, Dwayne Land, Gregory Land and wife, Tammy, and Phyllis Roberson; 35 step-grandchildren; and a host of friends. Charles “Sonny” Keene

Funeral services for Charles “Sonny” Keene, 81, of Benton were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Spring Ridge Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill. Burial followed in the Spring Ridge Cemetery in Pleasant Hill under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home of Many. Keene passed away on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014.

Harvey Gerald Cook

Harvey Gerald Cook, 81, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, stepped into eternity with God on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014 surrounded by family and in the comfort of his home. Gerald was a positive inspiration and a joyful expression of love in both word and deed. Visitation and funeral service will be held on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 at Warren Meadow Funeral Home in Many. (Visitation 1 pm – 2 pm; funeral service at 2 pm). Internment
immediately following at Florien Cemetery. Gerald was born in Dess on Aug. 30, 1932. He graduated from Plainview High School and received his BA in Industrial Arts from Northwestern State College in 1954. He began his career at J. B. Beard (Shreveport), spent 10 years as an engineer draftsman at Brown & Root (Houston, Texas) and retired from U.S. Steel Texas Works (Baytown, Texas) after serving more than 15 years overseeing the plant’s automatic controls.
