Many man burned in blaze

Gerald Moore Sr. of Doug Heard Road in Many remains in a drug-induced coma at University Health in Shreveport (formerly LSU Medical Center) at presstime, according to family members. Moore was badly burned in a fire at his home Monday, Jan. 20 at 3:35 p.m. Responding to the call were volunteers from Mt. Zion Fire Dept., who quickly requested mutual aid from North Sabine Fire District. Life Air was alerted and Med-Express cared for Moore while awaiting the chopper.

ACLU files suit against SPSB

The American Civil Liberties Union and the ACLU of Louisiana filed a federal lawsuit against the Sabine Parish School Board Wednesday, Jan. 22. The suit alleges that officials at Negreet School harassed and proselytized a sixth grader because of his Buddist faith.

snowman better than anyone in Sabine Parish Friday morning, Jan. 24. After a little help building her Many Tiger  heerleader
snowgirl, she happily gave her a kiss, which surely melted her heart!!

Zwolle adventurer joins cast of “Swamp People”

Roger Rivers, who was born and raised in Zwolle, has been described as “larger-than-life”. His reputation for dangerous adventures, like stalking the banks of Toledo Bend Lake hunting, fishing (He once hooked a 75-pound catfish on Toledo Bend!) and doing all the things credited to country boys, has earned him a spot as the newest cast member of “Swamp People”, shown on the History channel.

Jury updated on ambulance service, long range water planning

Frank Davis updated the members of the Sabine Parish Police Jury on issues concerning the ambulance service district and the long-range water planning committee at its most recent meeting last week. Davis advised the jury members
the district was receiving good service from the Zwolle ambulance service since MedExpress moved one ambulance from Many to Zwolle and service seemed to be improved for the Many side as well.

Poster contest opens for 150th Battle of Pleasant Hill

As part of the 150th an-niversary celebration of the Battle of Pleasant Hill, the committee will be sponsoring a poster contest. The artwork produced by the winning artist will be used on posters and t-shirts, which will be on sale at the April 4-6 celebration.

CONVERSE – A couple of years ago, Dexter Reed was sit-ting in the crowd at the Munici-pal Auditorium in Shreveport watching a Mixed Martial Arts event.For the most part, most of the action was on the ground, featur-ing very little striking. He quickly became bored watching the fights and voiced his opinion about the fights being on the ground.
