Patchwork

by donna smith ammons

This past year has been busy!

Several of our “stand-out” moments included:

--Riding the train to Washington, D.C. from New Orleans in March. Our daughter-in-law had a conference in the nation’s capitol and before she knew it, our son (her husband) and her in-laws were game for a trip. It was marvelous and so much fun riding, eating and sleeping on the train! On the trip we were able to tour a number of Smithsonian attractions, see the Lincoln Memorial, go to the zoo and best of all, visit Daddy’s grave at Arlington National Cemetery. After a whirlwind trip in the city, we rented a car and went to Lancaster, Pennsylvania and spent two days in Amish Country! Hubby-dear even drove a horse and buggy!!

David Martin Piehler

Graveside service for David Martin Piehler was on December 20, 2017 at Belmont Cemetery in Belmont. David passed on December 18, 2017 after a brief but devastating illness. David worked from high school to the age of 60 in the oilfield, having only been retired for two years before falling ill. He gave his blood, sweat and tears to his family, who he loved more than anything. He will be remembered by sons in whom he instilled the meaning of “integrity” and “respect.” It takes a strong woman to love a Piehler man and David was loved by one of the strongest. He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Theo Piehler. He is survived by the love of his life, Lisa Piehler; sons, Dennis and Michael with wife, Tara; grandchildren Emma and Victor; brothers, Richard and Chris, Rebecca; sister, Arlynne and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
