Funeral services for Wil-ladean Miller Mullens, 89, of Florien, were held November 9 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Jimmy Evans and the Rev. Jason Kees officiating. Buri-al followed November 10 at the Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. She was born on Saturday, February 2, 1929 in Florien, and passed away on Wednesday, No-vember 7, 2018 at her home in Florien. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Luther Mullens; sons, Michael Wayne Mullens and Kenneth Ray Mul-lens; parents, Marvin and Tres-sa Vidler Miller; siblings, Clyde Miller, Sybil Miller Crunk, Ma-rie Miller Gore and Billy Wayne Miller.She is survived by her broth-er, Theddie Miller of Florien; along with a host of nieces, neph-ews and friends. Funeral services honoring the life of Theda Mitchell, 84, were held November 7 at Rose-Neath Chapel in Mansfield, with the Reverends Bruce Mitchell and Richard Hale officiating. Burial followed at Warren Cem-etery in Fisher. Theda was born December 3, 1933 in Fisher, to John and Zarah Law Hayes and entered into rest on November 3, 2018. She graduated from Universi-ty of Southwestern Louisiana and taught for 25 years for the DeSoto Parish schools. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Mansfield. She was a wonderful sister, mother, grand-mother, friend, and teacher to many.Preceding Theda in death were her parents; husband, E.J. Mitch-ell; and brothers, James Hayes and Bobby Hayes. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Jerry K. Mitchell of Grand Cane, and Elwin C.

Halvor Lamar Peterson Jr. known to everyone as “Bo,” passed away November 5, 2018. He was born on Octo-ber 21, 1959 in Zwolle. Funeral services were held November 8 at Many Church of the Nazarene with Bros. Daniel Lowe and Dean Johnson officiating.

The top seeded Many Tigers soundly defeated the last seed Ville Platte Bulldogs during the first round of the LHSAA 2A playoffs on Friday, November 9 by a score of 76-0.

The night was a special one at John Curtis Tiger Stadium, as Veterans Day was to be observed over the weekend, and on the way to the field, each Tiger shook the hands and respected those who served our country.

A free Thanksgiving dinner will be served on Thanksgiving Day in Many thanks to the Black Heritage Festival organization and Trinity Baptist church.

The traditional Thanksgiving dinner, which consists of ham, turkey, dressing, green beans, candied yams, rolls and cake will be served November 22, from12 -2 p.m. at the old Many Junior High School. It is free to all who come. The hosts are expecting 100-120 people.

The second stage of saving the historic Many Depot building began last week.

A bid from Kowonno Green, owner of Green’s Handyman Ser-vices in Many, was accepted on Monday, Nov. 5. Green quickly began work on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

Green said he was excited to be working on such an important project for the Town of Many and felt honored to be selected for the job.

The 72nd Sabine Parish Chamber of Commerce Banquet was hosted at beautiful Cypress Bend Resort on Toledo Bend Lake on Tuesday, October 30.

A meet and great gathering preceded the welcome by Master of Ceremonies Matthew Couvillion, past president.

Following the Pledge of Allegiance, the Rev. Ray Spiller, Minister Emeritus of the First United Methodist Church of Many, offered the invocation.

Touchdown Tigers!” is what the die-yard Many High School football fans hear from public address announcer Buddy Wood on Friday nights in a jam-packed John W. Curtis Stadium.

Needless to say, Tiger fans have had a lot to cheer about the past few years, as they’ve advanced deep into the semi-final rounds of the LHSAA Class AA playoffs, and even capturing the state title in 2014.

However, on Saturday mornings, another squad of fightin’ Tigers have been lighting up the scoreboard on the gridiron around the state in the American Youth Football league.
