Zwolle Depot is symbol of town’s rich history

With Zwolle’s 120th anniversary celebration approaching, we here at the Index are highlighting some of history and happenings of the local town.

Zwolle owes its founding to the Kansas City Southern railroad entrepreneur Arthur E. Stilwell, who dreamed of building a railroad that linked Kansas City, Missouri, to the gulf coast. He sought investment capital from Jan de Goeijen, a Dutch coffee merchant, who financed much of the expansion through Arkansas and Louisiana.
