Zwolle Hawks go on streak

By Daniel Jones

The Zwolle Hawks have been in rare form the past few weeks, setting down four big local competitors in the Negreet Indians, Florien Black Cats, Stanley Panthers, and Converse Wildcats.

Against Negreet on April 3, Kobe Cartinez got the ball rolling early, as he singled on the first pitch of his at-bat and scored two runs.

Landon Rivers was pitching and went three innings with three strikeouts and zero runs allowed.

Zwolle had 10 hits in the game with Christian Howard and Bailey Delatin putting up two hits to lead the batting.  They also stole seven bases with Dallas Britt leading the way with three taken.

Florien fell to the Hawks on March 26 after Zwolle took a late lead to defeat them 7-4.

Zwolle got things going with two RBIs from Dallas Britt when he hit a double in the first.

Florien looked good in the third inning thanks to singles by Ryan Chesson and Benan Jones, but Zwolle was still able to pull off the victory.

Landon Rivers pitched for Zwolle and stayed in seven innings, allowing six hits, four runs, and nine strikeouts.

Florien’s Alijah Remedies pitched for Florien, going one-third of an inning and allowing three runs on one hit and walked one.  Knippers and Gage Remedies were his relief.

Stanley was shut out by the Hawks on March 22 by a score of 4-0, while the Converse Wildcats were defeated in a close game 2-1.
