Northwestern State University students Shannon Boone of Deville, Masen Starks of Many and Na-talie Sutton of Bossier City, from left, competed in the Louisiana/Mississippi Math Association of America math competition in Lafayette Feb. 28, competing in both the Integration Bee and Team Competition. Starks tied for fourth place out of approximately 60 students in the Integration Bee, narrowly missing second place. The Team Competition consisted of 20 problems that cov-ered several areas of mathematics. “Our team has been consistently improving their position over the last couple years. There were over 20 teams from 11 different schools from Louisi-ana and Mississippi competing in the competi-tions,” said Dr. Nicholas Richardson, assistant professor of mathematics and team sponsor.
