The Zwolle Tamale Fiesta is honored to name military veteran and service- minded Walt Korb as the 2024 Fiesta King Walt Korb was born in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, He spent his formative years there with his parents, Fred, and Mary Korb. He is the proud father of three children and three grandchildren.
When he finished high school, he chose to enter the military for his career. He served active duty from 1973 until 1996. He is now a Retired Chief Warrant Officer of the United States Army. This rank indicates his performance and dedication to service to his country over multiple years.
His specific service to the parish includes his leadership and oversite of events and projects that involve VFW Post 5187 membership, local citizens, and organizations. The completion of the “Freedom Circle” display north of Zwolle, Louisiana, resulted because of the leadership of Walt Korb. This inspiring display of flags on the Purple Heart Highway, known to us as LA. Highway 171, serves to honor our country and the sacrifice of veterans though our country’s history.
He is looking forward to the Zwolle Tamale Fiesta events and activities and serving as this year’s king. He invitees everyone to join him for the festivities October 10-12, 2024, in Zwolle.
