Jaeger and Brenyn Ebarb are the leaders in the “Catholic Men’s Mission: The Zwolle Initiative”, for the last two summers. This weeklong retreat is presented at Wildwood Resort on Toledo Bend Reservoir, by Jaeger and Brenyn. organized under the direction of Very Reverand Keith Gavin, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Zwolle. This initiative invites young catholic men to a weeklong study and reflection of becoming a man to serve the church and community. In these sessions Jaeger and other leaders help the participants examine their futures path of faith and service. They have them look at their options for the future which may include, but not limited to, choosing to become a priest, becoming a Catholic Deacon, entering a marriage or remaining single with their selection developing the skills needed to make a worthwhile contribution to the church and community.
Jaeger shares philosophies and engages participants into discussions about what responsibilities and commitment is necessary for these choices. Looking at how will they find expectations and goals through faith and service to church family and community. Examining these strength or weaknesses enable individuals to reflect on their future. Being responsible, trustworthy, community minded with moral decision-making are vital to developing into a productive man. The first year of the Catholic Men’s Mission included young men from Zwolle and Ebarb Catholic Congregations. The mission last summer included returning participants and new participants from other churches in the Shreveport Dioceses which increased the numbers. Jaeger’s service to his church and community has developed his awareness of the need for young men to have the opportunity to meet with motivated role models discussing faith and character- building issues. He is especially impressed with the support from local groups and individuals for the mission. He feels that the community knows no limit to helping this endeavor to grow and succeed.
