Dr. Jack Corley was born in Converse, Louisiana at Allen Clinic to his parents Willie Jack Corley and Billie Horton Corley. His siblings include Veda Gay Corley and Christy Corley Stephens. He grew up in Many, Louisiana and attended school there and graduated from Many High School.

Jack and Debra Harper married in 1979 and enjoyed forty-nine years together. They and had two children, Wendy Corley Curtis, and Willie Jack Corley III. Their four grandchildren are, Jesse Tackett Curtis, Hope Corley Curtis, Pressly Harper Corley, and Joc Garland Corley. Their great-grandchildren are Kit Ikaika Curtis and Jackson Camvios. They continued to be residents of Many, Louisiana through the years.

Following his graduation from Many High School, Jack entered business with ownership and management of two Sears Catalog Stores in Texas. The stores were in Hemphill, Texas and Newton, Texas where he was able provide a local store to people of the area to purchase from the franchise.

He decided to further his education to become a physician by attending Northwestern State University to receive his Pre-Med Degree. He continued his education at Louisiana State University in Shreveport receiving his medical degree to become a General Practitioner and Family Doctor.

He established his medical practice in his hometown of Many and served the community’s medical needs for over 30 years. He was loved and respected by his patients who appreciated his knowledge, expertise, and kind caring disposition. He was more than a doctor to his patients, they thought of him as their friend. He was supportive of his patients to gain and maintain good health or continue their life with the best quality possible. He would say,” My hands are in God’s Hands, it is all in God’s hands.” His attitude gave patients comfort and support through all their health experiences. He was the Many High School Team Physician for the football and other athletic events for twenty years, providing medical expertise and assistance in time of need. This assured the teams, coaches, and parents of quality care if injuries resulted during the game.

Dr. Corley and his family attended Trinity Baptist Church in Many, Louisiana. At Trinity, he served as choir director which he enjoyed tremendously. He loved people in general and this was another place to be involved with those he knew and cared about.

His favorite leisure adventures always included being out at his farm taking time outside with the cattle and horses. He always felt so happy here both taking care of the animals and enjoying the quiet environment. It was a peaceful place to relax and reflect.

His talents included musical performance. He was so talented he was able to pay multiple instruments but preferred playing the organ and piano. His music gave him the opportunity to express himself in one more way for those who loved and appreciated the man he was to them.

The Sabine Hall of Fame is pleased to recognize and remember a man whose many talents were dedicated to his family, patients, and friends. He spent his life helping others and making their lives better.
