Bobby Williams of Florien, a World War II and Korean War Veteran, along with Guardian daughter-in-law Becky Williams, on October 7, 2023 participated in a Louisiana Veterans Honor flight of World War II, Korean and Vietnam Veterans to Washington D.C. to visit the national memorials.
The long day began by arriving at the Baton Rouge airport at 4 AM where breakfast meal was served. At 5:45 AM, the flight on a donated American Airline airplane, departed and arrived in D.C. about 8:30 AM.
On this Honor Flight, there was only three (3) World War II and Korea War Veterans (Williams was one of the 3), two WWII veterans, two Korea Veterans with balance being Vietnam War Veterans. It is reported that in seven (7) years there will be no living WWII veterans.
In the DC terminal building there were hundred of citizens and school student along with a large school band welcoming the plane load of veterans and their Guardians to Washington D.C. During the day, most memorials in DC were visited. Many veterans had never visited Washington, D.C.
Arriving at 9:50 PM to a large reception of citizens at the Baton Rouge airport – it had been a long successful, appreciation day for this Veterans “Honor Flight” to D.C.
