Numerous local and state candidates recently qualified for the October 14 election, which sees a large number of important offices up for grabs.

Those qualifying are as follows:

Qualifying for the office of State Senator from the 31st Senatorial District were two republicans, Mike McConathy and Alan Seabaugh.

The Seventh District also saw two Republicans qualify for office. They are Larry Bagley and Tim Pruitt.

Republicans Clarence Beebe and Rodney Schamerhorn qualified to run State Representative in the 24th District.

Qualifying for Sabine Parish Sheriff were three more Republicans: Coby Lang, Aaron Mitchell, and Jeff Evans.

Tax Assessor Chris Tidwell was returned to office with no opposition.

Mark Holder will remain Sabine Parish Coroner after no challengers for his position materialized.

Shelly Salter will be elected unopposed as Clerk of Court.

Thomas “Bo” Stewart will remain the Police Juror for District 1.

Police Juror for District 2 will be contested between three Republicans. They are Mary Le-June, Trina Sepulvado, and Barry Stevens.

Bruce A. Taylor will be appointed as Police Juror for District 3 with no opposition.

Long-time Police Juror William Ruffin was appointed to District 4 with no opposition.

Police Juror District 5 will be contested between Republicans Ronald “Ronny” Bison and William Kelly Stewart and “Pat” Scarborough, who has no political party listed.

Eric Garcie and Trenton Hoss Harvey qualified to run in Policey Jury District 6.

Ricky “K-Wall” Sepulvado will return as District 7 Police Jury with no opposition.

The office of Police Juror for District 8 will be contested between Democrat “Rick” Sepulvado and Republicans Daniel “Pat” Procell and John “Kenny John” Remedies.

“Randy” Byrd will return to office as the Police Juror for District 9.

Gloria Stewart will remain Mayor of Pleasant Hill.

John Guillory qualified as Alderman for the village of Pleasant Hill.

There were no persons who qualified for the offices of Chief of Police for the village of Noble and alderpersons for the village of Noble.

A large number of candidates qualified for the office of Governor of Louisiana. They are Benjamin Barnes (I), Patrick Henry “Dat” Barthel (R), Daniel M. “Danny” Cole (D), Oscar “Omar” Dantzler Jr. (D), Xavier Ellis (D) “Keitron” Gagnon (NP), Sharon W. Hewitt (R), Jeffery Istre (I), “Xan” John (R), “Jeff” Landry (R), Hunter Lundy (I), Richard Nelson (R), John Schroder (R), Frank Scurlock (I), Stephen “Wags” Waguespack (R), and Shawn D. Wilson (D).

Qualifying for the office of Lieutenant Governor were Elbert Guillory (R), “Tami” Hotard (R), Willie Jones (D), William “Billy” Nungesser (R), Bruce Payton (I), Chester Pritchett (NP), and Gary Rispone (NP).

Secretary of State will be contested between “Gwen” Collins-Greenup (D), “Mike” Francis (R), Amanda “Smith” Jennings (Other), Thomas J. Kennedy IIII (R), Nancy Landry (R), Arthur A. Morrell (D), Clay Schexnayder (R), and Brandon Trosclair (R).

Qualifying to run as Attorney General are Lindsey Cheek (D), “Marty” Maley (R), “Liz” Baker Murrill (R), John Stefanski (R), and Perry Walker Terrebonne (D).

The office of State Treasurer will be contested between John Fleming (R), Dustin Granger (D), and Scott McKnight (R).

Michael G. “Mike” Strain was elected unopposed to the office of Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry. He is a Republican.

Commissioner of Insurance will see choices of “Tim” Temple (R) and R.D. “Rich” Weaver (D) on their ballot.

Campaigning for BESE District 4 will be Paige Hoffpauir (R), Stacey Melerine (R), and Emma Shepard (D).
