Toledo Pharmacy recently held a well-attended ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the new business, which will brings yet another convenience to the ever-expanding Toledo Town community and residents of the lake as a whole.

Their spacious new facility was packed to capacity for the ribbon cutting, with many eager to catch up after long times apart due to the COVID-19 situation.

Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce Shanna Dees Gaspard has extremely kind words for the new business, and the Rev. Wilton Anthony of Siloam Baptist Church offered a blessing toward the new lifesavers and their longevity.

Owners Vince and Donna Bartley have tapped Tanya Turner, who herself has over 35 years of experience as a pharmacist and is a longtime Sabine Parish resident, having lived here since 2002 when she married Stevie Turner of Florien.

“We felt that Toledo Town is a greatly underserved part of Sabine and we’re bringing them a needed service,” Turner said. “There are a lot of people who live in this area who simply can’t easily attain the prescriptions needed.”

Opening the business was quite the ordeal and took over two years due to COVID-19, the hurricanes, and even the extreme cost of building materials in the current world.

Joining her are Kara Drewett and Kristie La-Grange, both certified pharmacy technicians that are familiar faces due to their involvement with other local pharmacies.

Those with questions or those who are interested in moving their current prescriptions to the pharmacy are encouraged to give them a call or stop by. The pharmacy is also stocked with a full range of over the counter and other medicines, which can also save time by being closer to the lake instead of making a longer drive to a big box retailer.

“We are here for the community and here for the long run,” Turner said. “I want to do everything I can to help for another 36 years.”
