Mrs. Eylda G. Thaxton, Ed.S, Principal of Negreet High School (NHS) has been named Sabine Parish Principal of the Year for the 2021- 2022 school year.
Mrs. Thaxton shares that one of the most important elements in a school setting is to have a vision. From that vision, all stakeholders move forward to achieve the established and identified goals. Our vision at NHS is to achieve the highest level of academic success for all students.
Mrs. Thaxton attributes the tradition of excellence at NHS to the excellent faculty and staff, their determination and professionalism to attain the highest level of academic student success. It takes an entire community of parents, grandparents, families, and stakeholders (internal and external) to grasp all levels of achievement. Having a clear vision of the expected “end result” is the most important phase in the success of all students’ learning. Mrs. Thaxton, along with her Leadership Team, advocates for excellence and equality for all.
For the past six years, Negreet High School as achieved a School Performance Score (SPS) of an “A” rating. In addition, the Louisiana Department of Education has recognized NHS as a Top Gains and Equity Honoree campus for two consecutive years. Currently, the SPS for NHS (based on school calculations) is a 91.4, a rating of an overall “A.”
