The Louisiana State University – Alexandria women’s basketball team has enjoyed its greatest season in program history, with its efforts seeing six Generals honored as All-Conference players.

Kelsey Thaxton of Many was named the Red River Athletic Conference’s Freshaman of the Year as well as a member of the All-RRAC First Team. She was the team’s second leading scorer on the year at 16.5 points per game as LSU-A’s top deep threat, hitting a team high 90 three-pointers on the season on 37.7 percent from above the arc. Thaxton also averaged 4.5 rebounds per contest. The Negreet High School alum and McDonald’s All-American nominee was also a two-time RRAC Player of the Week during the season, earing the award in back-to-back weeks.

Aja Law of Florien made an impact in her freshman campaign as well, solidifying the middle as a key reserve for the Generals on her way to being named an All-RRAC Honorable Mention. In her first collegiate action, the Florien High alum averaged 8.4 points and eight rebounds per game and was second on the team in double-doubles with three. She only trailed teammate Danyale Bayonne’s nine. She made her mark on the defensive end, where she led the team with 23 blocked shots, which was also second most in a single season in program history.
