The Toledo Bend Lake Association (TBLA) is investing in the future by awarding college scholarships to deserving students around the Toledo Bend Lake Area. In 2020 TBLA instituted the Glynn Carver Memorial Scholarship honoring the man who devoted much of his life to improving his community. This year’s recipient is Abby Layne Shanley of Negreet High School, who impressed the scholarship committee with her scholastic achievement and leadership skills. Abby is receiving the Glynn Carver Memorial Scholarship for $6,000. She will be seeking a degree in Nursing at McNeese State University.
In light of the number of qualified candidates applying for the scholarship this year, TBLA approved additional funding to award more scholarships. Allison Nicole Bordelon is receiving a TBLA scholarship for $6,000. Allison is a graduating senior from Negreet High School, and she will be seeking a degree in Pediatric Oncology Nursing at Northwestern State University. Trenton Matthew Sepulvado is also receiving a TBLA scholarship for $6,000. Trenton is graduating senior from Zwolle High School and plans to study Industrial Engineering Technology at Northwestern State University.
TBLA is also awarding three scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each to college students who were previous scholarship winners in 2024. These recipients are Quade Leone, Victoria Gaspard, and Kason Parker.
TBLA congratulates each of these deserving students. TBLA is committed to improving the communities surrounding the Toledo Bend Lake Area, and one of the many ways it does so is by empowering the youth. In addition to the Glynn Carver Memorial Scholarship, TBLA supports area high school fishing teams, 4-H shooting teams, the LDWF 5th Grade Aquatic Education Days, SWCD Kids Fish Fest, and backto- school supplies for children in Many and Hemphill.
