The Many Tigers took to the road on Friday, November 13 and came away victorious, soundly defeating the Loyola College Prep Flyers in a non-conference game by a score of 61-27.

The Tigers began their march to victory halfway through the first quarter, when Terrence Williams hit paydirt with a 54-yard rushing touchdown to put the Tigers up by 7 after the point attempt.

In no time, Tackett Curtis intercepted a Flyers pass to set the Tigers up with a possession on their own 22-yard line. This time London Williams added points to the board and gave the Tigers a 13-0 lead.

Loyola scored a touchdown via an 18-yard pass with two minutes to go in the first quarter putting the score to 13-7.

After a long wait due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Many Tigers kicked off their season at home on October 2 with a resounding win over the North Desoto Griffins.

Many Tiger standout quarterback Zequarrius “Cadillac” Rhone has been receiving several offers to play for extremely notable universities such as the University of New Mexico Lobos, the Ivy League’s Dartmouth College, and the United States Navy.

Here is a recap of last week’s tournaments from the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series at Toledo Bend presented by Bass Pro Shops and the Mossy Oak Fishing Bassmaster High School Series presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors.

Cody Huff and Dakota Pierce from Tennessee’s Bethel University maintained the top spot and clinched the win with 20 pounds, 15 oz. bag which gave them a 3-day victory total of 60 pounds,15 ounces. The duo earned a spot in the College Series National Championship and $3,000 for the Bethel bass fishing team.

Placing second were Brett Clark and Cody Ross of East Texas Baptist with 54 pounds, and the third-place team was Tanner Ward and Rory Franks with 53 pounds, 12 ounces.

Stevie Mills and Baylor Howell of Bethel University won the Carhartt Big Bass Award with a 7 pounds, 8-ounce beauty they caught on Thursday.

The Toledo Bend Lake Association (TBLA) is already hard at work on its Annual Bass Unlimited Banquet & Auction. Mark your calendar for Friday, April 17 for the 18^th Annual Bass Unlimited Banquet, to be held at Cypress Bend Park.

Headlining the auction will be an original work of art commissioned by renowned artist Don Edwards, commemorating TBLA’s 50 years of serving Toledo Bend Lake. The evening will also include a live drawing for the first two winners of the 52-Gun Grand Prize Raffle.

Gary Moore won the Many Bass Club’s January 2020 tournament with a four fish stringer weighing 12.94 pounds. He also won Big Bass award with a 4.96 pound lunker.

Moore caught his fish using a Senko and trick worm in 3 - 10 feet of water in the north lake area.

George Herr is the second place winner with a five fish stringer weighing 12.09 pounds and Josh McPhearson is the third place angler with a four fish stringer weighing 10.21 pounds.

Movies in Many is beginning 2020 with the classic Disney movie ‘Lady and the Tramp”. It will play Saturday night, Jan. 25 at the Many Community Center. The FREE movie will start at 7 p.m. It’s a movie that the whole family, including small children, will love.

Parents need to know that Lady and the Tramp is one of the milder Disney titles, with no clear villain, so it›s an age-appropriate choice for younger viewers who are ready for a feature-length movie. There are a few scenes that are potentially scary, including a climactic scene where the dogs try to protect a baby who›s threatened by a beady-eyed rat and an accident scene where a secondary character appears to be dead, but then later appears mildly injured. The Siamese cats are more mischievous than mean, but they can seem creepy to young kids (they also embody some dated stereotypes). Romance is a theme throughout, with the two main characters ending up together raising puppies.

Sadly, the Many Tigers’ amazing season came to an end at the Mercedes Benz Super Dome in New Orleans after being defeated by the Ferriday Trojans 57-14.

Although they didn’t win the state title that many hoped for, the Tigers went from an 0-3 start to the finals, which is a tremendous feat considering how numerous teams and outlets had them counted out from the start.

The Tigers took a 3-0 lead early in the first quarter before giving up 28 points to go into halftime down 28-3. However, the team didn’t quit and ended the game 57-17 after two touchdowns in the second half by Terrence Williams.
