Florien baseball wins first state title

The Florien Blackcats first state finals appearance for base-ball proved to be filled with good fortune as the team scored six runs in the first two innings to record an impressive 10-2 vic-tory over Fairview in the Class B championship game.This first baseball champion-ship capped a 23-6 season for the second-seeded team in the play-offs.

Youth bream fishing tournament set for May 30

Ho Minti Society, Inc. will host a Bream Fishing Tournament for children ages 5-12 Saturday May 30. The program will be located in Zwolle on Toledo Bend Lake at the end of Highway 1215 (Old Yellow). Contest starts at 7 a.m. and continues until 11 a.m. with weigh in and free hot dog lunch to follow.

Remedies, Bonadona conquer weather and Pro Bass Challenge

Zack Remedies and Brent Bonadona duked it out with Mother Nature over the week-end of March 28-29, and both came through on Sunday with big money from the 15Th Pro Bass Challenge.For Remedies, an LSU junior from Many and one of six LSU bass fishing team entries in the Co-Angler Division field, it was only the third time he’s fished south Louisiana waters. For Bo-nadona, it was his second Chal-lenge Pro Division victory.

I had been an ordained minister only a few weeks when I received a call from an 8-year-old boy. A car had killed his dog. “Mr. Turner,” the lad sobbed, “do you do funerals for dogs?”I didn’t know quite how to respond, but I recalled the scrip-tures’ affirmation of God’s know-ing when even a sparrow falls.

Pleasant Hill student raises most money for Jump Rope for Heart

Scarlett Terrell, a third grader at Pleasant Hill High School, raised the most money at the school for Jump Rope For Heart. She was able to utilize online donations to help the Amer-ican Heart Association.
