The fish were scattered from shallow to deep, and they were caught on a variety of lures and techniques. The big fish were hard to come by. Thirteen anglers fished the tournament and only three five-fish limits were caught and only one double-digit stringer was weighed in.

The Many Bass Club held their February Tournament on the weekend of February 5 and 6. The weather made for a tough bite, but several anglers cracked the code and caught nice stringers. Seventeen members fished and five limits of five fish were weighed in by the anglers. The members had the option to fish either Saturday or Sunday and the top three stringers were weighed in on Sunday.

Gary West had the winning stringer which weighed 17.36 pounds. He caught his fish in the mid-lake area on finesse jigs fishing 20-foot ridges. Many’s hopes for a repeat in Class 2A took a big hit Friday.

Returning to the Class 2A championship game for the third straight year, the Tigers lost 17-6 to Amite in the Caesars Superdome.

The Tigers’ lone score came from senior running back London Williams, who finished with 101 rushing yards on 22 carries to earn the Most Outstanding Player award for runners-up.

“London set such a great example for those young running backs behind him,” Many coach Jess Curtis said. “Hopefully, we’ll be the ones to adjust and come back a little hungrier.”

On the Tigers’ first drive, they went 41 yards on 18 plays and burned over nine minutes off the clock, but missed a field goal as it was a sign of things to come.

It was a tough time for Many (13-2), as it trailed at halftime for the first time in two years thanks to a 34-yard field goal by Warrior senior Liam Adamson with 1:32 left in the second quarter.

As usual, the strong running game of the Tigers proved nearly unstoppable, with senior London Williams putting 12 carries for 205 yards and five touchdowns on his already impressive season stats. Right behind him was sophomore Jeremiah James with 13 carries for 127 total yards.

Quarterback Tackett Curtis had one completion on three pass attempts for 21 yards and a touchdown. Senior Jack Deville caught the one completion for the touchdown.

On defense, Curtis had 13 solo tackles and five assists. Also of note was Swazy Carheel’s 13 total tackles, Keaton Montgomery’s 15 tackles, and Jayvion Smart’s six.

Mason Campbell had one fish weighing 1.87 pounds.

The Many Bass Club held its October 2021 Tournament the weekend of October 9th on Toledo Bend. The anglers had the option to fish Saturday or Sunday. The fall fishing was tough with bites few and far between. The weather was unseasonably warm and dry for the entire weekend with high temperatures still touching the upper eighties, with water temperatures in the mid- seventies, and sunny skies prevailing. Sunday was quite breezy making it difficult to fish on the open lake. The Lake level was stable at four feet below full pool, and the bass were still reluctant to abandon their summer haunts, but the top two stringers did come from shallow water. Thirteen anglers participated in the tournament, and only four of them weighed in five fish stringers.
