Tigers pounce, decimate Jonesboro-Hodge 35-6

The defending 2-A 2014 State Champion Many Tigers were in rare form for their homecoming game on October 2 and completely dismantled their opponents, the Jonesboro-Hodge Tigers, 35-6. Standouts for the game included senior #85 Marcus Wiseman, who at strong safety had six tackles and defended against five passes. Junior #42 Blaze Brazil was also a standout, as the Tiger’s leading rusher had 133 yards and one touchdown on the night.

Tigers bounce back, defeat Farmers

Following a devastating loss that put an end to a 17- game winning streak against North Desoto, the Many Tigers bounced back against the Union Parish Farmers with a 42-36 win against a big northeastern Louisiana football school. After an injury to Kentrell Maxie last week, AJ Carter took the field as the Tigers’ primary running back for the night and came away big with 343 yards on 31 carries and three touchdowns.

Tigers fall to North Desoto

The Many Tigers impressive undefeated streak of 17 games unfortunately came to an end against the North Desoto Griffins in Stone Wall on Sept. 18. Before the season began, Coach Jess Curtis stated that he wanted the Tigers to have a harder schedule, in order to be prepared for the playoffs. However at the end of the night, the District 4A Griffins came out on top against the smaller, 2A team.

Many starts season; defeats Winnfield, Marksville

The defending state champion Many Tigers started their 2015 season in style, defeating two extremely tough teams in Winnfield and Marksville. The Winnfield game began the Tiger’s season, as it kicked off at Many High School on September 4 with a 30-0 win.

Expectations run high for 2015 Tigers

The Many Tigers are a team that now expects success. In 2012, they ran deep into the playoffs before falling in a hardfought quarterfinal game. The next year, they were so close to the coveted 2A state football title. Finally, in 2014, they achieved that goal, going 15-0 on their way to the school’s first state championship. Not being one to accept partial success, Head Coach Jess Curtis expects the same from his team this year.

Dixie Angels are World Series runners-up

Sabine Parish has long been known as a hotbed of youth basketball, but the argument can now be made that some of the best softball players in the nation are coming from here, as well. For several years now, Dixie Youth softball teams have made the World Series, either winning the tournament or making it into the finals. Such is the case with the Dixie Angels, a nine and ten year old softball team from Sabine that was recently named the national runners-up following X-play competition in North Carolina.

Dillard joins with Sprinkle, S&S Fishing & Rental for 2016 campaign

Cade Dillard has been a busy man this year. Oppor-tunity keeps knocking and he keeps answering.In his second full sea-son of competition with the United States Modified Tour-ing Series, Dillard announced today that he will join forces with Shane Sprinkle of S&S Fishing & Rental to compete for the 2016 USMTS National Championship with a full-time schedule.

Many Bass Club holds August tournament

Donald Stevens won the Many Bass Club’s August tournament with a five-fish stringer weighing 18.46 pounds and big bass honors with a 5.69 pound fish. Stevens, once again surviving the heat, caught his fish using a jig off points and ledges in the Housen area of the lake. David Owens is the second place winner with a five fish limit weighing 18.41 pounds and Derek Mong took third place with a five fish stringer weighing 10.58 pounds.

All stars win two district 8 championships

Sabine Dixie Youth 10 year old all stars have recently won two undefeated District 8 champion ships for both 2014 and 2015. The team also recently played in North Regionals where they were defeated by Minden for the state title.

All stars travel to Mississippi

The 11-year-old boys All-Star team travelled to Hattiesburg, Miss., to represent Louisiana at the Dixie Youth Invitational World Series. After 3 days of intense play and temperatures soaring near 100 degrees, the guys came in 3rd at the World Series.
