Stephany Stutts

Stephany Marie Butler Stutts, 69, of Zwolle passed peacefully March 31, 2019 due to a lengthy illness. She was born to the late Phyllis and Ronald Butler Sr. on January 19, 1950 in Washington State.

Stephany graduated from Wapato High School in Washington and received an LPN license from Sabine Valley Vocational Technical School in the 1980s. For many years Stephany worked as an LPN for Sabine Medical Center where she met and made many friends and coworkers. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Her family will remember her sense of humor, sense of adventure, the time she went down the water slide, her loving joyful heart, her hugs and kisses and her love for books. After retiring from nursing, Stephany volunteered countless hours driving veterans to and from the veteran’s hospital. She also volunteered at many of the events hosted at the local DAV.

Thelma Fox

Funeral services for Thelma Jean Fox, 79, of Keithville were held on April 5 at Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Zwolle with Father Richard Norsworthy officiating. Burial followed in the St. Joseph Cemetery.

She was born on Tuesday, May 2, 1939 in Zwolle, and passed away Monday, April 1, 2019 in Shreveport.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Margaret Sepulvado; and sisters and brothers.

She is survived by her husband, Sherman Fox of Keithville; son, Randy Fox of Keithville; sister, Doris Sepulvado of Zwolle; grandson, Matt and wife Christina of Stonewall; great grandchildren, Chord Fox and Caylor Anne Fox; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Shirley Carle

Shirley Ritter Carle died in Springfield, Missouri with loved ones at her bedside on March 23, 2019. She was 78.

Shirley was born in Many on May 22, 1940, and was the second of five children of James Carlyle and Katherine Steele Ritter. She graduated from Many High School and received her B.A. in history with a minor in English from the University of Texas at Austin. While at the University of Texas, Shirley met and married Thomas G. Sharpe, Jr. They moved to Brownsville, Texas, following his graduation from law school, where she taught at Cummings Middle School until they began their family. Together they had three sons, John Carlyle Sharpe, Thomas Steele Sharpe, and James Gilbert Sharpe.

Frances Ezernack

Funeral service for Mrs. Frances Ezernack, 84, of Leesville, were held March 28 at the Cooper Baptist Church in Leesville with the Reverends Edgar Evans and Robbyn Hunt officiating. Burial followed in the Forest Lawn Cemtery in Leesville under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.

Mrs. Ezernack was a native of Zwolle. She was a longtime resident of Vernon Parish. She worked at Fort Polk as a mail handler for many years. She was a Volunteer Firefighter with the Savage Forks Fire Department and an active member of TOPS and a senior ladies quilting group. She had a wonderful personality and was soft spoken and nice to everyone. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress and quilter, and she loved to travel. She was a great storyteller and an intelligent, tenderhearted person.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Burl Edward and Carmen Lovelady Smith; husband, Alfred Ezernack; son, Danny Paul Ezernack; and granddaughter, Amanda Stewart.

LaTerri Cain

A private graveside service honoring the life of La-Terri Shawn Peace Cain, 62, of Mobile, Alabama was held March 24 at Bayou Scie Cemetery. The Reverends Jerry Penfield and Marty Williams were in attendance.

Terri was born April 22, 1956 in Zwolle to Michael and JoAnn Peace and entered into rest on March 18, 2019 in Mobile, Alabama after a brief illness.

She graduated from Zwolle High School in 1974 and Northwestern University in 1977. After graduation she worked at the East Columbus Library in Riegelwood, North Carolina. In 1989 she moved to Mobile, Alabama and worked at the Mobile Library for 30 years. She had many close friendships with the employees and the clients.

She was a compassionate, loving person who was always willing to help someone in need. She loved her family, her friends and her little dog, Petey. She will be sorely missed.

Sharon Green

Funeral services for Sharon Lee Green, 74, of Florien were held March 30 at Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brady Glaser officiating. Burial followed in the Union Baptist Cemetery in Florien.

She was born on Saturday, August 12, 1944 in Many, and passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 in Shreveport.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Tilton Masters and Jessie Lea Craft Masters; daughter, Rhona – Regina Green; and sister, Ruth Lynette Masters.

She is survived by her son, Reginald Alan Green of Zwolle; daughters, Veronica Lynette Winchester of Baton Rouge, Jessica Janel Gentry of Hornbeck, and Lanetta Leona Boyette of Lake Charles; sister, Connie Ferguson of Florien; brothers, Kenny Masters of Kountze, Texas and Donnie Masters of Quitman, Texas; granddaughter, Anna Green of Shreveport; grandson, Ethan Winchester of Baton Rouge; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Deloris Conley

Deloris D. Conley was born May 3, 1934 in Parks, Nebraska to Gladys and Frank Little. She entered into rest on March 7, 2019 in Many. Mrs. Conley was a member of Alford Heights Baptist Church of Many.

Deloris has been a resident of Many for 19 years as a result of her job in management of retail stores. She traveled to several locations as a consequence of her employment choice. Her family was a bright shining light in her life; she devoted her life to each of them as she loved them dearly in her own special way.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Willis Conley; all of her sisters, Violet Marie, Mable Nellie, Wilda Dale, and Leta Bernice; and all of her brothers, Charlie Lee, Glenn Leroy, and Francis Dale.

John Dew

John Franklin Dew, 93, known as Frank or by most in the community as the “telephone man,” was called home to be with the Lord on March 28, 2019. Frank was born on October 19, 1925 in Many to Willie Ambrose and Helen Elizabeth Hayes Dew.

He attended and graduated from Many High School and joined the United States Navy after graduation serving in World War II. After serving our country, Frank was employed by Bellsouth Telephone installing and repairing phones for fellow Sabine parish residents for the next 45 years. Frank was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge and served as Chaplain. He also was as a Shriner and assisted in raising funds for Shriners Children’s Hospital. Frank served as Deacon and Sunday school teacher at Mt. Freedom Baptist Church for over 60 years. Frank loved all his family from distant cousins to immediate family members and always loved spending time with family and friends.

Olga Blanco

Funeral services for Olga Jean Blanco, 85, of Florien were held March 23 at Beulah Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Leach, Sr. officiating. Burial followed in the Beulah Cemetery.

She was born Saturday, January 13, 1934 in Sabine Parish, and passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at the Canterbury House in Alexandria.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hoyt Gandy and Ethel Pilcher Gandy; brothers, Hershel Gandy, W. H. Gandy, and Rod Gandy; and sisters, Hope Slay and Louis Griffin.

She is survived by her husband, Weldon Blanco of Florien; son, Michael Blanco of City Of Industry, California; brother, Shannon Gandy of LeCombe; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Edna Beach

Memorial Services will be held Wednesday March 27 at 11 a.m. at the Noble Baptist Church for Edna Fae Endsley Beach. Fae, who resided in Noble, was born September 8, 1942 in Huffines, Texas. She went home to be with the Lord on March 21, 2019.
