Barbara Johnson

Barbara Lynn Tibbett Johnson, 66 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches, passed away on July 6, 2019. She was born on June 5, 1953, to Preston Percy and Lucille Veuleman Tibbett. She was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, David Johnson; parents; brothers, Mike Tibbett and Kenny Tibbett; and sister, Theresa Tibbett.

Barbara is survived by nephews, Justin Tibbett, and wife Gretchin and their children, Preston and Lauren; Jason Tibbett and wife Heather and their children, Bailey, Jacob, and Addison; and Kendall Tibbett and wife Lori, and daughter, Morgan; nieces, Ashley Tibbett Morgan, and husband Dennis, and their children, Dennison and Sawyer; and Sara Merchant, and her children, Joseph, Austin, and Emma; sisters-in-law, Linda Tibbett, Elizabeth Ann Tibbett, and Sue Short; and stepchildren, Dacia, Jennifer, and Landon Johnson.

Thomas Self

Thomas Alton Self of Leesville passed away Monday, July 1, 2019 at the age of 87. Tom was born near Ouiska Chitto Creek in Vernon Parish on December 16, 1931 to Ola Mae Cryer Self and Thomas Jefferson Self. He graduated from Anacoco High School in 1950 and went on to LSU, where he served as student body president from 1953-54.

After completing his undergraduate degree at LSU in 1954, Tom attended law school at New York University for a year under the prestigious Root-Tilden Scholarship before leaving to serve two years as a US Army Lieutenant. During his service in Mineral Wells, Texas, Tom met and married Betty Joyce Wester. After their marriage, Tom and Betty returned to Baton Rouge where he completed his law degree at LSU in 1959.

Nada Powell

Nada Louise Wedgeworth Powell, 79, of Florien passed from this life on Friday, July 5, 2019 at Sabine Retirement & Rehab Center in Many.

She was born on November 28, 1939 in Shreveport. She touched the lives of hundreds of young students during her more than 20 years of teaching in Calcasieu and Vernon Parishes. Nada was once honored as Vernon Parish Teacher of the Year. Her primary focus was fifth grade, yet she did teach other levels as needed. She delighted in her myriad of students and many of them still attest she was the first to help them believe they could indeed become and do anything they chose.

Nada was preceded in death by her parents, Preston and Mae Wedgeworth.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lynn Powell; children, Teresa Chance, Mike Powell, and Lisa Brent; grandchildren, Matthew Chance and Rachel Powell; brother, Don Wedgeworth; along with a host of friends.

Richard Walsh

Richard Clinton Walsh of Natchitoches passed away on June 30, 2019 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. He was born on May 1, 1988, in Bossier City.

A mass honoring his life was held July 6 at The Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Natchitoches with Father Luke LaFluer serving as celebrant.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers included Jeremy Anderson, Derrick Fontenot, Jonathan Fontenot, Christopher Remedies, Derek Bernard, and Kyle Martinez.

He attended Zwolle schools and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Natchitoches in 2006. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration with a minor in accounting from Northwestern State University in 2018.

Richard worked in the oil and gas industry for six years and most recently was employed by Walsh Timber Company. He had a tremendous love for life and his family. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, working in the yard and watching baseball.

Darline Knippers

Funeral services for Darline A. Knippers, 69, of Robeline were held July 9, 2019 at Friendship Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. James Ericson and Deacon Scott Manuel officiating. Burial followed in the Friendship Nazarene Cemetery

She was born on Tuesday, March 14, 1950 in Zwolle, and passed away on Friday, July 5, 2019 at Cornerstone Hospital in Bossier City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Knippers; son, Raymond Knippers; son-in-law, Davy LaGrange; and parents, Dennis and Ollie Gass Armstrong.

Lena Thibodeaux

Lena Elizabeth Mora Thibodeaux was born July 22, 1939 in Sabine Parish to Letha Inez Sharbeno and Lonnie Ervin Mora. She entered into rest on June 25, 2019 in Shreveport.

Funeral services celebrating her life were conducted by Brother Jimmie Glover June 28 at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Many.

Preceding Lena in death were her parents, Lonnie and Letha Mora; husband, Clifton Thibodeaux; sister, Lenez Mitchell Mora; and brother, Gabe Mora.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Clifton Thibodeaux Jr. and Lonnie Thibodeaux both of Lafayette; daughter, Arcelia Holman of Many; sisters, Lera Johnson of Amarillo, Texas, Mary L. Lee of Many and Carol Mora of Zwolle; brother, Kenny Cuppernell of Amarillo, Texas; granddaughter, Elizabeth Thibodeaux; great grandchildren, Lydia Thibodeaux, Elsa Lea Thibodeaux, and Aron Dean Heard; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Connie Jordan

A funeral service celebrating the life of Connie Renay Jordan, 56 of Noble, was held July 3 at St. Ann Catholic Church. Interment followed in the St. Ann Catholic Cemetery.

Mrs. Connie was born on January 11, 1963 in Zwolle to Willie Ray Sepulvado and Pearl Malmay Sepulvado, and passed away June 30, 2019 at her home.

She was preceded in death by her father; her paternal grandparents, Wesley Sepulvado and Selena Sepulvado; and her maternal grandparents, Pete Malmay and Trudie Malmay.

Left to cherish her memory are her mother; husband, Kenneth Jordan; son, Derek Jordan and wife Kristan; daughter, Savannah Jordan Anderson and husband Tyler; sisters, Sherry Henry and husband Doyle, Donna Glover and husband Jimmie, Pamela Sepulvado and husband Scott; brothers, Joseph Gary Sepulvado and wife Cheryl, Kevin Sepulvado and wife Susie; and her grandchildren, Jaden, Kraegan, and Kameron.

Annie Wyble

Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Catherine “Granny” Wyble were held July 2 at Siloam Baptist Church in Many. Interment followed at Siloam Cemetery.

Catherine was born on February 16, 1926 in Citronelle, Alabama to Boyd and Alma Miller and passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at her residence in Many. She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church. She moved to Many in 1966 where she went to work at Piggly Wiggly as a cashier and later became manager of the video department. She remained employed at Piggly Wiggly for 30 years. Next, Catherine joined the team at Big Star as cashier and office personnel for the next 20 years. She loved working both jobs and loved her co-workers and customers dearly. Catherine would refer to her co-workers as family.

Ronald Knott

Ronald Knott, 81, of Euless, Texas passed away at his home on June 26, 2019. Funeral services were held on July 2 at the Ranch of Lonesome Dove.

Ron was born July 17, 2937 to O.B. Knott and Viola Ramshur.

Ron and his twin brother, Roland, were raised in Noble. Both graduated from Northwestern University in Natchitoches. Roland was commissioned in the USAF and Ron was commissioned in the Navy and entered the Flight School in Pensacola, Florida. Ron flew many types of jet fighters in the Navy, but the F-8 Crusader was his favorite. After seven years in the Navy Ron flew 30 years for Delta Airlines. He owned many private aircraft during this period.

Danny Ray Seegers

A memorial service celebrating the life of Danny Ray Seegers was held Friday, June 21, 2019 at 11:30 am at Bethsadia Church in Many.

Danny Seegers was born on July 21, 1961 in Shreveport. God called him home on June 13, 2019, at the age of 57.

He loved to be out in nature. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, mudding, and all types of sports. He always wore a smile and helped everyone he could. The thing that was dear to his heart was being with his family and friends.
